Star Wars Force and Destiny Adventures

By Hoda25, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Hey guys I was just curious what your adventures are like for Force and Destiny. I was just wondering because I GMed the beginner game adventure but I'm really interested about where I should take my group next. I don't want to do an adventure on finding lightsaber crystals because two out of the four people in my group have lightsaber already because of their backstories and the other two don't want them.

I'm going to be buying the core rule book very soon and I really like the idea of introducing an Inquistor at some point.

Feedback would be greatly appreciated!

What kind of campaign do you want to run? A long story arc? A more "sandbox" campaign where the team runs around righting wrongs? You could take a page from the Rebels show, and harass Imperial outposts, intercept needed supplies, spring activists from jail, etc.

Just MHO, I don't think you need any special type of adventures for F&D characters as opposed to EotE or AoR characters. Some of the sessions might have a more mystical focus, but if you sprinkle those in amongst the others they'll be more special.

We usually do a mix of underground tech aquirement and we all enjoy Combat heavy encounters. One other member of the group serves as the main GM for Edge and Age and the two of us are going to switch off so he can play.

My missions are centered around the remnants of the Jedi Order. One of the players in my group is actually a former Jedi padawan so it works for him and the others who are Jedi supporters.

Since you're interested in the remnants of the Jedi Order and we don't have much by way of source books yet for FaD ... so you might pop onto Wookiepedia and look up things such as ancient Jedi or Sith temples to see if your group wants to go on adventures to locate and learn the secrets. You will obviously know what worlds they are on and the areas to find them, but have your group piece together information just to locate it and to get there, meeting whatever challenges you have in store for them -- such as running into an Inquisitor, sneaking/fighting past an Imperial brigade, talking to locals, dealing with underworld NPC's, traverse dangerous terrain, finding the trails of other force sensitives on the run from the empire, maybe even helping out the rebel cause along the way. It really just depends on how extensive you want the adventure to be before they find it and move on to the next temple, holocron, or secret Jedi. What the rewards are in each temple or holocron would be up to you based on the make up of the group and their goals for character and story development.

Just MHO, but I find the focus "ancient temple/ancient secrets" stuff a bit limiting. I'm not saying it shouldn't be in a game...heck, I have it in my EotE campaign, though it's a sidebar...but the Jedi were really defined by their actions, which was supposed to be helping people and keeping the peace. There's a lot more room for good stories if you include that aspect.

You could also watch shows like the A-team, Starman, Kung Fu, Kung Fu the legend continues, Scarecrow and Mrs, King, Mission Impossible(TV not the lame movies that effectively (Beeeped) all over the TV show origins.)

I believe that will give you lots of fodder for the type of stuff Whafrog is talking about.

Add a mix of Indiana Jones tv show and movies, Goonies, etc. You should have plenty of story to keep you occupied for years...

I agree with this, there are lots of good Jedi stories finding a way to help people or keep the peace as you mentioned that will keep the players engaged and bring out all of the skills and talents they've earned ... maybe my post wasn't very clear, because, like you said, a story arc could get limited (maybe even boring) if they are just temple hopping, he had just mentioned that his missions tend to center on the remnants of the Jedi Order, so it was just an example of using Wookiepedia (or other resources too, I guess) to find aspects of those remnants that he can weave into his story. Maybe using them more like "checkpoints" ... where most of the action takes place along the way to those remnants/relics, including opportunities to evolve the story in real-time (for example ... when shopping for supplies they hear of slave traders on a nearby landing pad, etc., etc. ... might also play into their Morality with some of the choices he could present).

Much like the early EotE adventures were focused on the PCs being crooks and hoodlums, the FaD adventures so far are focused on ancient ruins, finding lightsaber crystals, or some combination in between.

However, just because your party is comprised of Force users doesn't mean that every adventure had to be about the Force. As was suggested, you could get decent mileage out of a campaign focused on the group simply being a wandering group of do-gooders that are out to right as many wrongs as they can, perhaps starting out with smaller-scale trouble like local gangs before moving up to take on pirates, criminal syndicates, or even the Empire itself.

Star Wars Rebels also provides an interesting template, with the party being focused on a single location and trying to thwart the Empire on a more local level while helping the local populace. They could just be an independent group with zero ties to the Rebel Alliance; not every freedom fighter is a Rebel after all.

A FaD campaign doesn't have to automatically equate to Jedi ideals; there's nothing stopping the party from being a group of freelance agents taking jobs from various individuals for a variety of different tasks. Yeah, that's something you might expect more from an EotE group, but it works for a FaD crew as well.
