Overwatch

I'd just like to point out to everyone that hasn't noticed.

New Overwatch rules in RT. You can Overwatch using full-auto, semi-auto, and suppressing fire modes of firing now. (DH was full-auto only)

was about time they added that.

Yeah, before the SM in space hulk were a bunch of cheaters. Now they are Chapter Approved. (flamers on overwatch!) demonio.gif

i for one would like to shout "yay, 'bout time that was done!" this is indeed great news, it all most makes up for the dire postings about warhammer fantasy roleplay FFG keep giving us :)

now wheres me heavy bolter as I wish to wait here and blast anyone popping out of cover and turning then into a fine red mist Mmm red mist! LOL

Yes, I think it's good now that weapons like Bolters can go into overwatch. Also, it's nice that, if you do have a full-auto weapon, you can decide if you want to try to hurt enemies in your kill-zone (fire full-auto), or if you want to make them avoid it (suppressing fire).

Not gotten to the rules yet, but thanks for pointing this out. I may well have overlooked it.

Forgive me for resurrecting an old thread but I found this one to be most pertinent for my question so here it is:

On the Overwatch action it states you can Full Auto / Burst / or Supressive Fire for your options which like mentioned above is very nice. However at the end of the action it states anyone caught in the 'kill zone' must check for Pinning at a -20 in the same fashion as Supressive Fire. My issue is, why choose Supressive fire? After all you get the benefits of Supressive fire whilst the damageing potential of Full Auto just by taking the Full Auto choice.

Or does Supressive Fire impose a second Pinning check above and beyond the one naturally granted from the Overwatch action?

Or perhaps the natural Pinning check from Overwatch is a mistake? What are your thoughts?

I would impose two pinning checks. Once for the suppressive fire, and once for the overwatch.
