Places to play beside the LGS

By Wayne Argabright, in X-Wing

Did not want to hijack the support the LGS thread. So I was wondering if folks have places they play besides the LGS if you don't have an LGS or your LGS is lame? I was thinking local Library, Church? rec centers if your area has them? But the problem I see with all those is that they close pretty early. Being an old fart I have my own house and actually prefer playing there and as a bonus I don't have to scooch tables together and clean off sticky goo off the seats and tables before I set up!!! however seating is limited to around 6 tops!! lol I also have access to the local military base and they do have places to play that stay open late. but the problem is advertising when and where games are to be played so one can meet/play with new players. which is why I still play at the LGS .Anybody have any options that have worked to attract/meet new players that Don't use an LGS?

Rec centre. I work at ours and it's open till 10 PM weeknights.

Fire halls can be an option too as a lot of them have community rooms.

Local gaming clubs often have tabletop nights at local restaurants or public spaces.

University student unions if you have a local university.

Anywhere you can lay a mat!!!!!!

The floor

If i don't play at the LGS i sometimes play at a gaming club that has access to a community room of a fire brigade on weekends.

Or just at home since i own a house.

Forgot about the student union at the local campus. Used to hang out there yeas ago.lol

My house, if I can get my stepdaughter to finally launch out of the basement (she's 20). Also, there happens to be a fantastic pub in old town winchester that upstairs has a table that is JUST 3x3. I want to play there. Haven't yet, but am trying to set it up with a friend of mine.

My kitchen table Fridays around 9:00 once the kids are in bed.
