FFG Gives in to Demand .... Colored Bases!

Dammit...DAMMIT! So many bases to replace!

i'd like to see FFG release mixed asteroid and debris tokens. For the really big games :-)

If FFG starts selling standalone tokens but still refuses to sell standalone cards, I'm going to **** bricks.

I want to see cool space ships not a rainbow parade of hideous colours.

I think anyone that actually gives each ship in their squadron a different colored base like in that picture is just a doofus.

A better usage would be to give each faction it's own color.

I'm probably going to use a different color for my Imperial ships than I do for any First Order ships I get(probably red and purple respectively).

Colors are fine. Kind of neat to create custom squads, or whatever. But just to pile onto the same massive tackle sack... need matte black... and epic bases... and acrylic tokens. Hopefully coming.

For those who say this is "proof," though, that their voices are heard: I have proof that my football team does better the more I believe in them and the louder I scream at the TV because I remember every time that I've done that and they've won. Sarcasm aside, the point is, correlation does not equal causation.

Well. This was something I didn't know I wanted before now.

I'll probably grab a couple of different colours so I can differentiate aces in squads that are using the same ship. Also: purple for Xizor, because obv. Like a couple of other people, I think the coloured pegs might be a bridge too far though.

So lets get this straight, judging from the picture with each pack you get 1 large base and 3 large base pegs and 4 small bases and 12 small base pegs per pack?

Well. This was something I didn't know I wanted before now.

I'll probably grab a couple of different colours so I can differentiate aces in squads that are using the same ship. Also: purple for Xizor, because obv. Like a couple of other people, I think the coloured pegs might be a bridge too far though.

I might grab a few of these.

Easy to differentiate the aces from the fodder if/when flying the same ship.

But will need to see IRL first. If fugly; me no buy!

Those of you using and liking the Attack Wing bases ... great and all ... but these FFG colored bases are legal for tournament play ... the Attack Wing bases are not ...

All attack wing items (range ruler/movement template/bases) they are different sizes from X-wing right?

Mostly, but most important of all they don't have nubs to slide the templates in but slots. Matters for bumping and how movement plays out in general.

who demanded this?? I demand plastic tokens or more of them to match the ones i have won in various tournaments! Rainbow bases kind of kills the realism for me... Black would be cool...

IDK, I always figured the idea was akin to viewing a holoreplay of a battle. Colored bases are perfectly suited to such an idea. I never imagine "realism" had anything to do with x-wing.

There ya go, that's my whole deal - they're recessed instead of having extended guides, so that's gotta interfere with template function, right?

Yeah you put the templates in the slots. It works better than the FFG deal... for me.

Now that I see the Attack Wing versions of the template slots, I like them a _lot_ more. I wish FFG had done it that way from the beginning.

Frustratingly, the official bases have the nubs, and those nubs do count for purposes of bumping. Because that's the case, I totally understand why yours wouldn't be tourney legal.

Since neither of us cares about Tournaments... I may be getting some of the STAW versions. :D

Wizzies gets a few things right with STAW. Just like FFG gets a few things wrong with X-Wing.

I'm quite pleased that replacement parts / extra stands are now available for X-Wing in general. The colors do seem like a great idea for the tournament environment, but I've yet to participate in any tournaments. I may get a couple of different color packs to be able to mark objective ships in scenarios, but I don't see switching out my transparent bases in general any time soon.

The price isn't bad though, for what you get in a pack.

IIRC, the X-Wing bases are flat on the front with the nubs sticking out. The STAW bases seem to be beveled on all four sides, so I bet they measure the same front to back as the X-Wing do nubs to nubs. So the STAW bases actually cover a few square millimeters more of table, but the movement templates would fit in at exactly the same place. While it's debatable whether the extra frontage is an advantage or disadvantage for bumping and measuring range (it's probably a wash), it seems the STAW bases would be much easier to interact with on the table. IMO, they look a little more refined in design than the X-Wing bases - the nubs just look funny.
