Mystery ship from Star Wars Uprising

By patox, in X-Wing

Anyone know anything about this ship.

It's from the new video game Star Wars Uprising.

Not a thing, other that it can be used for naught but interplanetary/stellar shuttling around. It's too tiny for anything else.

Kinda a neat little critter. Did not know about it at all until reading this topic.

:)

The actual player ship is this:

In-game, it's mostly just an icon indicating story mission. It's described as a worthless freighter.

Here's some more art, showing it and the mystery ship plus one other I can't identify.

Looks like Ebon Hawk...someone has been lazy...

Looks like an Ebon Hawk met the Millenium Falcon in a bar, got drunk and then .... well you know the rest. Ship is ugly.

edit: It's an ugly child of two nice ships.

Yup. My thoughts exactly

There's a whole lot of lazy ugly in that artwork. I mean, does every game HAVE to have a Falcon clone of some kind?

But then, people like the stupid 5-wing lambda gunboat abomination, so (shrugs).

Shoot, it's possible to make something pretty out of that.

You know, that was my first, original complaint about Rebels, aside from it being yet another story about Rebellion Members, was that it was yet another to have a freaking CEC ship as their home base / main ship.

I got over that pretty quick though, The Ghost is certainly different enough to excuse it.

But this thing is just ugly as hell.

But then, people like the AWESOME 5-wing Alpha-class xg1 Starwing Assault Gunboat Adonis of all starfighters, so (smiles).

Fixed that for ya.

Also, yeah we do see a lot of Falcon clones...making a ship smaller or larger than that range puts it out of scale with fighters and other small transports and also out of the firepower range that should be available to a small rag tag band of rebels/pirates.

I... I kind of... Like it. .. ...?

Normally, I would question your taste.

But.

To each their own.

Ahh I see Princess Vespa has arrived! http://www.imcdb.org/i200332.jpg

It's a rule of Star Wars games/series... must have Falcon clone, must have Han Solo analogue, must have R2/C-3PO analogues (though HK, well, he is technically a protocol droid), and must have some token alien companion.

The assault gunboat on the other hand is the 2nd most amazing thing to come out of the TIE Fighter game, beaten only by the Defender.

S**t I'm guilty of all of this from some standpoint.

The first image actually looks a lot more like a bad rendition of;

This was actually my pick for the Rebellion option for Wave 8.

The ship in the OP looks like a Salthi from Wing Commander 1. I want a model of it.

But then, people like the terrible"I put wings on your wings! 5-wing gunboat flying mistake of a design.

You're right, I hate that lousy excuse for a ship too. It wangs chung. Hard. Like calling an english muffin "sophisticated breakfast cousine." or a Gremlin a "great, safe car." It's like the designers just gave up and the art director was blind. I mean, what the hell were they thinking? You can't put 5 wheels on a BMW and call it a Lamborghini. That's just stupid. Holy hell, if everyone did that the world would be so full of badly designed crapola our eyeballs would melt out of our sockets out of sheer disgust. Luckily there are things called standards now, and garbage like that doesn't escape any self-respecting design studio worth its salt. 5 wings. What a joke. Had to wash my brain out after that one by watching six hours of Rick and Morty. Anyhoo, back to my posting.

Re-fixed it for myself. Fixed yours too. Thanks, though.

Mate that Ebon Falcon of yours is a thing of beauty! Where can I get one? FFG this should be in wave 9!

^ is that a Star trek shuttle of some sort?

Btw, all of these ships from the artwork are really fugly. And add the Starwing to that as well just because!

It's the Smuggler's Starship from Star Wars: The Old Republic. Most of SWTOR's ships feel like homages to one or more film ships. The Imperial Agent's ship is Queen Amidala's Shuttle meets Maul's Sith Infiltrator. The Jedi classes' ship is that republic shuttle from the opening of the Phantom Menace with a hammerhead. The Bounty Hunter's is a Firespray. The Trooper's is a giant B-wing. The sith's ship looks like a Tie Advanced mixed with Maul's Infiltrator again.

The XS Freightor and X-70B Phantom are very much sucesses. Some of the others, well, I leave that for you to decide if you care to look.

When dogfighting (as opposed to the rail shooter the game was released with) was released, you got a lot more variety in ships especially since each system you equiped changed the look (This was particularly notable with the engines on bombers). I can't actually find a compilation of the starfighter's appearances on the site, or I'd link that as well.

I have always argued that this game needs a non-combat shuttle-like ship much like this.

Now hear me out. A small base, plastic model ship that can be utilized for all 3 factions. Rather than 4 pilots, it comes with 4 "versions" each with a different stat line. A ship that can be used for narrative missions, like escorts, rescues or kidnapping. Basically, a fully realized "senator's shuttle."

Played SWOTOR but never the smuggler so I'd forgotten about this ship, there were a few cool ones in that game.
