Not happy about buying new damage deck/core set!

By PoliteElliot, in X-Wing

This is just it. I do think that a few of us, myself included probably need to step back, as we are getting quite caustic here.

Hobo it's a figure of speech from the UK.

Throw the toys out of the pram just means basically make a big deal/hissy fit over something.

I am English i know what it means and i stand by the last post.

It's not a hissy fit it's a valid complaint as other people on your side have already conceded.

A hissy fit would feature MORE CAPS!!!! as well as threats about quitting and going to play something else because FFG sucks.

Yet no one has come anywhere close to that, they have in a civil manner lodged their protests.

The people throwing ad hominems and blatant insults out are those happy to buy the core who were directly responsible for the last thread on this topic spiralling down into insults against people who were too poor to spend $100 dollars a month on this game.

By calling it a hissy fit your being very dismissive of the entire argument and saying no one has any valid reason to not like the new core, and that buddy just isn't true.

I suggest that people with spare damage decks (from buying multiple Core Sets) sell their decks at a fair price to the biggest complainers on here? I'm so over this topic and hate to see more and more threads on here. Can we just get the great community that is here to get the complainers to drop it already?

I had thought of simply giving my spare away, when it finally arrives. But there are a couple of new players in my league who are trying to figure out what they want vs. what they can afford, so I'm going to keep the spare deck to lend out at tournament time.

Hobo, dude there have definitely been hissy fit arguments. If people are resorting to calling people whiners/fanboys etc then it's happening.

Do you have signoftheserpent on ignore? Because the only name calling, insults and general ad hominems lately have been by him.

Hobo,

I'll tell you what; when I get my second core set (probably at the end of the month) I'll send you the spare damage set.

Genuine offer.

But no kisses.

Cheers

I'm upset about having to buy ships to play this game in tournaments. I proxy my dog as a Space Marine Titan for my home games, why can't I use my Lego fleet in X-wing?!

Greedy sons of *******.

Went through the entire thread the only post i found was this joke one, perhaps vandor your thinking of the other one but i can't find a single post saying someones going to quit or stop buying because of this issue

MM and CSI have the Core Sets for $26.99!!! Even if you pay the flat rate shipping of $5.95, it's still less than $33!!!

If you are a bigtime tournament player, how many tournaments do you play in during the course of a year? How much do you spend on entrance fees? How about food on tournament days? Travel costs? How many hours do you play during all this? $33 is chump change in the grand scheme of things and if this cost is split per hour, its miniscule!

Personally, Im tired of seeing the WHINING about "HAVING" to buy the new Core Set!! If its that big of an issue, stop playing in tournaments and play casually only with what you currently have, no more cash outlay!!! Nothing more to buy, and no more entrance fees, etc!!! Look at all the cash you'd save. And if its really an issue of money, quit playing altogether and SELL all your XWing miniatures and you'll be rolling in dough!!!

Then you can buy a $27 Core Set and start all over with just what you want....

JMHO!!!

And APB i present the first bit of mud being slung.

Yes, both sides have slung mud. People are throwing their toys out of the pram on both sides.

If you want my honest opinion we all need to step back, have a cup of tea and wait to see what happens next. And this thread could probably do with being locked.

Then we can discuss our pretty little pieces of plastic, read one of Dracon's epic theory craft threads, and discuss what the new cards(damage deck and otherwise) mean to us.

perhaps vandor your thinking of the other one but i can't find a single post saying someones going to quit or stop buying because of this issue

Possible it was in another thread. But it was said, and this thread is really just a continuation of the others.

If you want my honest opinion we all need to step back, have a cup of tea and wait to see what happens next.

"Those who say there's nothing like a nice cup of tea for calming the nerves never had real tea. It's like a syringe of adrenaline, straight to the heart!"

Ok, I can take being called a fanboy. I can take being in a lot of arguments.

But no-one, EVER Disputes my love of tea, or my tea-making skills.

I've yet to see a reason why selling damage decks separately is undesirable or unworkable.

I hear a lot of excuses from fanboys, and frankly I'm beyond sick of hearing from FFG's army of apologists.

Really? That's how you treat my opinion?

How disrespectful are you? Grow up ffs.

It must be exhausting being the Rodney Dangerfid of tilting at space windmills.

I already have a 2nd, posted it in the trade thread and not a peep. Sometimes I feel like the anger (in general) in this thread is anger for angers sake.

Yes there has... Pretty sure it was this thread, where someone wanted to get people to boycott FFG.

True, the same poster who keeps calling it "draconian". Not necessarily this thread though. Though, to be fair, they all bleed together anyway

Don't listen to him Hobo - he just wants your address so he can set fire to a bag of dog poo on your front porch.

Buy one off eBay instead ..... I'll be putting up a listing in a day or two :)

I just find it so difficult to accept HoboJeebus is really taking that stance that my brain just keeps wildly searching for other reasons to explain it.

It makes absolutely no sense in my head that anyone would complain about this. It really just seems like a child yelling "It's not fair"

My mum used to tell me that "Well life isn't fair" and when i think about it like that maybe i'm really thinking, yeah Hobojeeebus is right, it's not fair.

But then I think, wait, this is just about people buying stuff with their money to play games with so is it worth my time arguing over this and well i'm only posting on here cos a woman has messaged me on a dating site and i kinda want it to go ok, but she's backing me in to a corner about the fact that i don't think i would want to go travelling alone and she seems to think her world view is the only valid view and my preference for reading a book and having coffee is just something that needs fixing.

Not sure i should start an argument i don't really know her, but i also don't feel i should get defensive, and changing the subject would be too obvious so i may just end up ignoring her now and never knowing.

Anyway, i really don't think FFG have done that bad a thing, they are a great company when it comes to supporting there games but yeah at the end of the day we shouldn't be under any illusions, they are out to make money, i just don't believe that this move was as cynical as some people think.

I'm a bit tipsy.

Also here's a picture of me with some lego, you guys would date me right?

Nope,

But I'd tell you there was a really hot chick outside looking for you, then rummage though your game to find your new damage deck.

Noo, that's demystifying Talonbane Cobra, you should be wearing a Luchadore mask or something.

It's just that, y'know. We've heard every variation on how irritating it is at this point. And we've repeated why FFG are probably doing it this way and what the options are for people who feel like they have to get a new core just for the damage deck enough times that there's basically nothing constructive left to say and so people are just irritably sniping at each other to the benefit of literally nobody. In other words: The Internet.
