Potential problem with Draw Ruling

By macar, in X-Wing

So if you are in the elimination rounds and happen to draw (han kills han is the easiest scenario)

Who would advance?

I would assume overall MOV would determine the winner

Thoughts?

Initiative

So if Fel's Wrath and Natasha Pup get a draw the pup counts for 1 point in MOV right? Would the draw be affected by MOV at all say 101 points against 100 points?

Maybe this should be a different thread.

No.

If they get a draw then both ships are dead, so

"If the only ship remaining in a match is the Nashtah Pup Pilot, the player who controls that ship wins. If this scenario arises during a tournament match, the Nashtah Pup Pilot is treated as though it is worth 1 point. "

doesn't apply

Initiative

This was changed, it explicitly states that if there is a draw the person with initiative no longer wins.

The version of the new Tournament rules I am reading says that the player with initiative wins. Page 4, bottom left just above the header "Squad Building."

Two things.

One: It's the new core set rulebook that says you always play to the end of the last turn now (except if someone concedes -- that might be tournament-only). It's not a special ruling or a tournament-only change.

Two: There were already rules for handling draws in tournaments. It's just that they'll happen a tiny bit more often now.

In the Swiss rounds, it's an actual draw, worth 1 match point and a MoV of 100.

In the finals, a draw is a win for the player with Initiative (which is how the basic game works too).

EDIT: The basic game does not treat draws as a win for the player with Initiative. That was only in the old rulebook. Sorry for the confusion.
