Which list has taken the hardest hit with the new large ship nerf?

By Marinealver, in X-Wing

So large based ships have finally been hit with the nerf bat. Now they can count for 1/2 points rounded down once they reach half hit points (shields + hull total) or less.

So which one of the lists do you think has taken the greatest hit. I have heard of some saying shuttles being the weakest ships now not as viable of a tank. Still I think IG-88 has taken the bigest hit as brobots tend to take up half the list and not 4 hits on a single IG-88 would be worth 18 if naked but going to be about 24 with all the upgrades.

So which large ship has taken the biggest hit with the nerf bat?

Any list that used Chiraneau, Gunner and Vader crew.

You're basically handing your opponent 30+ points.

IG-88 / Boba, I reckon. It's already pretty hard to stop Boba getting mugged. It's a good change, though.

a better question would be "which of the 2-ship lists will you miss the most?"

Rest in peace doomshuttle. May flights of obsidian pilots sing the too thy rest.

Any list that used Vader got hit pretty hard, regardless of the ship carrying him: whether or not to use him is now a much bigger consideration.

Other than that, I'd say Brobots. One of their major strengths is that the damaged member of a pair can run away and continue to contribute (via the title), and now your opponent gets at least some MoV out of doing serious damage.

Hard to truly say, though high cost ships with relatively few hit points are probably the worst off. To that end it really feels like IG2000 is one of the biggest candidates to the title. Mind you, I'm all for this change.

Is the Doomshuttle really... er... doomed?

I mean, the idea was always keep it cheap because it's gonna die. In the off chance it fails in that mission, you've only given up 12pts. Not great, but not killer either.

Brobots. I can take down 4 ties, not lose a single ship, but if my shields are gone, my opponent wins.

Not that I'm complaining, mind you. The rules really needed to change. Just IMHO it clearly hits brobots the hardest.

For example, Fat Han will still be viable, it just changes the fact you can't kill off slightly more than your escort in costs and then tank for the rest of the game. Even the falcon will take half damage. Hopefully you will see a shift towards more aggressive and offensive lists.

I don't believe the Doomshuttle has taken much of a hit at all, actually. I mean, in my lists at least, if the Doomshuttle survives to the end of the match it's merely a nice little bonus.

I don't think this hurts shuttles too much- They go from Full health to dead fairly quickly already. Deci-vader might be hit slightly, and I think most of us are okay with that. Big fat ships will still be good, scoring will just be fair(-er).

Edit: Ninjas! Everywhere!

deci-vader will be replaced by D-Devil, dauntless Oicuun :)

...oh ****, they fixed that too :(

maybe feeling the barest twang of regret for that, because Oicuun's a PWT with actual balls, but that FAQ bit has nothing to do with the scoring changes and everything to do with manuevering changes

on the bright side, welcome back Nightbeast :D

A large ship build can still win if it tables its opponent, which might lead to more aggressive flying. Which means swarms might see a bit of a renaissance since that'll mean more ships to clear.

i didnt even know nightbeast worked like that... im a filthy cheater

I had a match last night against a Dauntless pilot who didn't know about the changes, but also didn't know that the timing of Dauntless meant you could use it indefinitely as long as you executed greens. He'd been playing it that way the whole time.

i want this to have been the case, just one game goes "oicunn ram" "repeat until toasty"

I'm running a Palpatine shuttle with Vader and Fel as my tournament list right now and I'm in favor of this change. It shouldn't affect me too much. If my opponent is gunning for my shuttle one of two things have happened. If the Shuttle is the last ship on the board then I'm screwed anyway. If they've ignored Vader and Fel to go after Palpatine then I have two very fat fighters going after his ships with little return fire.

probably part of the reason they changed it :P

I don´t get it. What kind of nerf we are talking about? Source?

The fatter the ship, the bigger the nerf, I suspect.

So it's Fat Hans and Decimators, who were always a pain in the butt to kill when they started running on their last few HP, that will sacrifice the most. They'll still run, of course, but they've already lost half their score.

A good change.

Honestly, you were handing your opponent points anyway with that kind of list. You take 25% of your HP on a 60pt ship on your own, you're going to have a hard time no matter what. Chiri is sensitive, he takes damage if you blow him a kiss. I never understood why people put Vader on him. I'd rather put him on a Patrol Leader or on a Lambda.

Now the list that suffers the most will be dual decimators. You can say bye bye to that list, there's little it could do now. Most games they'll be down one ship and less than half on the other at the end. That list suffers a lot more than Chewie-Leebo types of lists.

Oh, man, my double Defender list keeps getting better and better.

Only affects tournament tiebreakers.

Large ships give up half their points in MoV at half health. Gone are the days where a 1HP Falcon counts as undamaged. In essence, it's now much harder to run away with your Falcon and win on the clock.

Large ships haven't been nerfed in terms of ability, but they no longer function as "point fortresses." In terms of MoV, a Brobots list acts like a 4 ship list.

With any luck, the groupthink'll freak out and abandon two ship PWT squads en masse, like what happened with the TIE phantom errata and with TIE swarms when Wave 4 came up.

I never understood why people put Vader on him.

Felswatter. Vader blows the Decimator's shields to stick some crits on Soontir, then you stop using him once you hit the hull and start triggering Isard.

Stealth Wolf Vessery doesn't fear massed TLTs?

Thank you for your explanation. Is there any source? Is it written in the new rulebook (if any exists)?
