Vader and tie advanced title

By Galandrill, in X-Wing Rules Questions

This came up in conversation last night and based on what everyone has said about the new title in wave 8 for the tie prototype i honestly think it fits to vader. The tie advanced title says "Tie Advanced Only". Vader ship ship is a "Tie Advanced X1". His ship already has the title built into it so how can the title be used on his ship. If you look at all of the other ships they all just read "Tie Advanced". Can Vader use the Tie Advanced Title since his ship is not a Tie Advanced, it is a tie advanced x1?

The rule is that the ship's name has to contain all the 'name words' from the title.

Thus, 'TIE Advanced X1' has all the neccesary words required to complete 'TIE Advanced' and still has a X1 to spare...

Thus, it could be possible to create a "TIE Advanced x1 only" title, and only Vader could equip it, since only he has all the matching words.

I haven't looked at it, but what is the Inquisitor's ship called on the card? TIE Advanced Prototype or some such, right? Wouldn't that still function for the title upgrade?

I had a similar thought to the OP when rifling through my Advanced pilots the other day.

EDIT: Just checked and I assume the fact that "Advanced" is abbreviated on the Inquisitor's ship is probably going to be the "block" for the title.

Precisely, that can of worms is under a heated debate, awaiting for a proper FAQ response.

Yep, that is what many of us thought at first. But then, some realized that FFG had abbreviated 'Corvette' into 'Corv.', which by that line of reasoning, would make the corvette unable to take its own titles, and the debate ignited again.

Don't know if everyone has read it yet or not, but the new FAQ (published today, 9/16) confirms that Darth Vader is eligible for the X1 title.

It doesn't mention the Inquisitor just yet.

And it's not likely to until he's officially released. Even if you try emailing, you won't generally get an answer until he's officially released. It's just something FFG seems to do.
