Brobots

By Nunizillion, in X-Wing

Just got my second IG-2000 and I'm excited to start flying them.

I'm curious, what load-outs do other folks take with them? any tips or tricks to flying double IGs?

Push the limit, advanced senors, mangler cannon and auto thrusters is always a good place to start. Works best with b and c.

My preferred build (inspired to no small degree by MajorJuggler's "Terminators") is:

"Blunt Instruments"

IG-88B (Crack Shot, Fire-Control System, Heavy Laser Cannon, Autothrusters, Inertial Dampeners, IG-2000) [49]

IG-88D (Crack Shot, Fire-Control System, Heavy Laser Cannon, Autothrusters, Inertial Dampeners, IG-2000) [49]

Fairly straightforward: point them at the enemy, and unleash HLC-FCS-88B shenanigans to ruin his day. Crack Shot can be swapped for VI, but I prefer being able to tell enemy ships to get the hell off the table. Nothing more frustrating than having to put a whole extra round of shooting into a 1 health ship.

B: Heavy laser cannon, auto thrusters, fire control systems, inertial dampeners, ig-2000, outmaneuver

C: Ion Cannon, Flachette cannon, auto thrusters, fire control systems, inertial dampeners, ig-200, outmaneuver

I have run before with VI, but i find i'm either playing the Fat Han shoots first or 4 b-wings. So, PS 6 is just fine for the most part.

One good thing about the bots, is that you can fit them to your tastes.

I find it very, very difficult to not use Advanced Sensors on these guys.

I don't prefer PTL, as there is so much stress-inducing elements in this game. I tend to load them out with Manglers, either Predator, VI, or Adrenaline Rush (but as soon as I get my hands on Wired I'm trying that out for sure), and give them Autothrusters by default. Illicit upgrades are usually Inertial Dampners, but I'm excited to soon try flying them with Glitterstim. And then there's your choice of Advanced Sensors, Fire Control Systems if you're running IG-88B, or Sensor Jammer if you are running IG-88C and a EPT that also assists with defense (such as PTL or Wired if you're like me).

One thing I will stress is: leave 1-3 points open for an initiative bid. It will win you the game in the mirror.
