I guess so... we had 4-5 people with us when we started up yesterday... but soon only 1 remained, and we were playing pretty fast
Without any sound I suppose it gets boring quick.
It actually goes slow enough that you can follow while doing something else, especially when the game is pretty much decided by turn 2
But yeah, it's not as interesting without sound/people chatting.
If the players are typing what is happening it's pretty good - especially if they are experienced players who keep a good pace.
Watching a game where the players have private voice chat is a lot less engrossing because it's harder to tell what's going on.
The best is when you're all on voice chat for late night vassal and one of the players is tipsy enough to the think they can do Darren grader impressions.

Okay, writing other part of it now. Just sitting in cafe after class, so I have some free time

Sigh, I'm afraid to say I'm in no rush to start the next pod. My 7-year old just dumped a cup of water on my brand spanking new laptop...it'll be next week before the shop tells me how much it's going to be to fix, or get a new one (shudder).
