X-Wing Direction

More draconian business practices.

The new damage deck is REQUIRED on 1/1/16. So everyone that doesn't want to buy a new core set, stuff it up your piehole.

Or, more than likely, purchace a damage deck in a blister pack.

Easy. Isnt FFG Worlds in November!? Ask them at that time if theyre wiling to sell the new damage deck in a blister pack...

I wonder how well the Armada dice packs and maneuver tool individual sets are doing for them. I suspect if they're losing money on those, there won't be any blister pack sales of the new damage deck.

Endor was the end of the Galactic Civil War.

Well this is all I have to say about that.

I'm actually with the OP, but the answer is pretty simple - stop buying. I'm not going to buy this new stuff unless I really like the movie, and then I'll reconsider. The ships are still going to be there, and saving some money in the meantime is nice. With stuff like Wave 8 I'm only interested in the Scum ships and the Gozanti. I'll buy those, have all the fun, and see what wave 9 brings.

It is about the Galactic Civil war.

And to think the GCW ended at Endor is and always has been hilariously wrong.See: Heir to The Empire

Yeah i think i can agree to that XD

This is possibly the goofiest conspiracy theory I've yet read on a forum that tends to be full of them.
There's not even a REASON to 'split' the Rebels from the Resistance, or the First Order from the Empire even as more ships undoubtedly are released for them down the road. What would be the point?

Not to mention, look at Scum. When Scum came out they made a very clear, immediate, distinct effort to set it apart from the existing factions. They can take droids, but have a special Salvaged Astromech icon, so they can't take, say, R2-D2. They have a number of crew that specify Scum Only. They have an upgrade slot all their own - Illicit Upgrades. There was a very clear dividing line when that third faction was created.

If they were going to do that with Rebels/Resistance, for instance, they would have put that framework in place from the new Core Set on. Not only did they not do that, they did the exact opposite of that, making it very clear that the pairs of factions are interchangeable. Same droid icon, no restriction on squad building a mix of both, or using the same Rebel Only crew with both.

I want to be clear on this - there would be absolutely zero logical reason for them (not that logic seems to be coming into play with this particular topic) to go out of their way to make the paired factions intertwined, only to try and untangle them later. And there's probably a very good reason, which we'll find out when the movie hits, that the factions ARE considered so intertwined.

The closest thing the so-called 'new factions' have to a unique "Scum-only" distinction is the new Tech Upgrade and there are two problems with drawing any conclusions for that.

1. BOTH of the 'new factions' have it, and

2. If you don't think we'll get a crew, or an astromech, or an EPT or SOMETHING allowing access on at least some of the old ships to the new tech upgrades at some point, you're crazy.

Disagree, superfan.

New Republic versus Imperial Remnant

Technically, they didn't become the New Republic until they retook Coruscant. Which still happened several years after Endor.

Future film releases can be catered to by Aces packs or something akin to what we got with scum and villainy! Hell I honestly think that FFG "WON'T" re-release the falcon for the sake of of a square dish! They didn't release a slightly different Tie int model for imperial aces did they!

What better time to implement changes needed to your game then when the franchise it's based off gets a phenomenal kick up the backside with not just three more installments but standalone films set before TFA yet after RoTJ and even rumours of a LATVS as well as SW Rebels! It was the perfect time to do it! Simple as that.

Both stand alone Anthology films (Rogue One and the rumored Han Solo film) are set before Episode IV, not after RotJ. There have been no films announced yet that take place between RotJ and TFA, only novels.

They probably had no real choice Disney wants tfa stuff out there and ffg needs the license, it would of been preferable to divide the era's but it'll be a long time before there's enough new ships to make that viable.

There isn't any evidence that FFG was resistant to the new ships or putting them into the current factions. Considering what was in wave 7, I'm betting they were chomping at the bit to get new, far more recognizable, ships to put out. Same with the Rebels stuff.

I agree. They're faced with the choice of putting out something like the T Wing, which precisely three people in the world have ever heard of, or putting out new models from new, incredibly well marketed movies.

My mistake but the point still stands! Disney plan on making a ton of starwars films and related gubbins following on from the success they and marvel have had with the MCU! If were going to be seeing at least two films per year with VII VIII IX and a Rouge Squadron, Solo and Fett splashed between with a TV show running at roughly the same time? It pays for FFG to stick to it's tried and tested single and aces expansion formula to introduce new ships and characters.
