A Question for FFG ...

By iPanterra, in X-Wing

Any chance you could sell the new release "Damage Deck" individually like your dice?

I don't speak for anyone else but myself, however, I have spent quite a bit of money so far buying the waves and have at least 2-3 of ea ship, Huge epic ship excluded. I don't really want to buy an additional core set just so I can enter official tourneys next year.

Just find someone that bought extra core sets and get one from them. prob cheaper too. (maybe even free if they like you)

You do realize it come with new ships right? But if it's that big of a concern, try to borrow a damage deck from someone with an extra.

Meh!

Im far more excited for the new asteroids.

Damage Deck Troll is obviously too obvious... he's gonna buy the new X-Wing anyway.

The game came out in 2012. Three years later they're essentially asking you to buy a new $40 core set to stay tourney legal. On top of which, you get three brand new ships and upgrades, all of which are compatible with everything you already own, and a clarified rules set that doesn't actually change the rules of the game.

I doubt ffg would release it. other than the ships that can be bought individually by expansions, it's the only party of the core that isn't made in acrylic by a third party.

A LOT of players will buy two. Look on eBay and trade threads here or on reddit/BGG. You can probably get one for a couple dollars.

Someone had emailed FFG. Don't remember the link.

It was also stated in a Q&A with FFG at the NOVA Open the weekend the new Core Set came out.

You realise some people have no interest in those ships right?

I don't believe I was trolling, in fact I think your comment is rude and I have some choice words for you which is not appropriate in these forums for responding that way.

1, Hobojebus hit the nail on the head there, do you even realise that not everyone wants or have any interest in those (old but has a different paint job) core set ships?

2, I would guess that more than 50% of the FFG X-wing miniatures population is now playing with plastic movement templates and tokens so those card board ones from the new core set will be null and probably binned however we are paying for it as well.

3, I believe the only thing in the pack that would be of true value providing its true will be the new asteroids... and the damage deck.

outside of this I believe its just straight out profiteering.

and if your argument is the new ships they are available on sale individually.

I bought three original core sets, for the three of us that play, so that we all would have a damage deck ...

One person doesn't play as much, so I don't plan to buy 3 of the new core ..

Ideally I would like to purchase the new damage deck for our third player, so that if he does go to a tourney next year, he is covered...

link please :)

There is no link. QA at Nova Open with Frank. It's on their latest pod cast. They said frank said it will be officially stated down the road. Which means at the very least a new Tournament rules packet before January

New damage deck should be sold with 'new' dice packs. With new asteroids. And new ships, like those new X-wings and TIEs that I hear might be in a new movie. And maybe an updated rules book. And a set of templates and a range ruler, I can always use another set of those! Yeah, they definately need to put out a new damage deck set with a few extras.

Oh. Wait.

@op do you think the original core set is profiteering? It has all of the supposed issues you raise as the new core set.

Oh goodie. This topic again. The new ships are sweet including the exclusive pilots and upgrades. The new asteroids are great to have. I needed extra dice.

Oh, and then there is that minor detail of getting an updated damage deck that improves upon the old one. That's really great to have as well.

There us tremendous value in the new core set even from your FLGS. And if things are really tight and you want to break down and get one from CSI or MM then it's a downright steal.

Thanks for the new core set FFG! It's outstanding!

Ok, this has been repeated ad nauseum but I will state it very clearly for those who still don't understand.

THE SHIPS IN THE NEW CORE SET (T-70 X-WING, TIE/FO) ARE COMPLETELY NEW SCULPTS OF NEW SHIPS. THEY ARE NOT REPAINTS OF EXISTING MODELS.

Jim

Check ebay in about a week or two once lgs, amazon and other retailers besides target start carrying the core sets. There will be plenty up there.

Qft they are brand new sculpts. The t70 is crazy different from the t65 in a lot of ways. Tie FO differences are more subtle but are there (different engine configuration, larger more pronounced guns, more armor plating and detail, different wing texture pattern)
