K-Wing Miranda + ...?

By cdr, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I want to hear people thoughts on what is the better of this three builds as i dont get to decide.

The first one is the one that won Italy nats, but i dont know if Dash without push the limits engine upgrade is really that good, do you guys think it's not neccesary?

here are the three configuratios:

Miranda Doni

Twin laser turret

c3p0

Homing missiles

Dash Rendar

Lone wolf

outrider

HLC

r2d2

Anti pursuit lasers

------------------

Miranda Doni

TLT

Recon specialist

Seismic Charge x2

Dash

Push the limits

Outrider

HLC

Kyle Katarn

Engine upgrade

-------------------

Miranda

TLT

Recon Specialist

Han Solo

Predator

R2D2

C3po

Title

Engine Upgrade

In the second list the recon specialist could be swapped for a 3po for more damage mitigation.

Havent played with r2d2 crew, and it seems good but dont really know if it is really a pain getting you crits.

Miranda Doni (29)
Twin Laser Turret (6)

Gold Squadron Pilot (18)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
R3-A2 (2)
BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Etahn A'baht (32)
Push the Limit (3)
Advanced Sensors (3)
R2 Astromech (1)

Total: 100

I won a tournament yesterday with super dash and miranda with tlt, eu, and 3po.

I used her as a blocker and dash just flew circles around opposition.

Kinda like a quarter back and the offensive line

Except he was shooting heavy laser footballs

So you stuck with the Engine Upgrade? Did you like it, or wish you had some ordnance?

I loved it. It got me out of tight spots allowing me to shoot range one with 4 dice and not get shot or let me just arc dogs and regen shields with tlt. I only slammed to prep for the next turn or to try and keep her alive if needed be.

Very fun list... Miranda also helped plink tokens away for dash to put on the hurt.

Just played today a game with the super dash list(push the limits kyle HLC EU title) and miranda close to yours, TLT c3po but instead of EU i had concussion missiles which i felt it was kind of a waste, i was almost always trying to escape from arc or going for the range 3.

Your aproach as a blocker is interesting, i ended with the feelings of replacing the missiles for some bombs to drop behind, because of the always running gameplan and swapping 3po for a Recon specialist since i feel range 3 against primary weapons is better to have all those tokens to spend on defense or atack. Could be wrong on this.

I like where your head's at and been wanting to try this as well - having a focus for each of your TLT shots seems like virtually guaranteed damage output, as opposed to the guaranteed damage mitigation from 3PO. Also seems like bombs are handy if you're plan is to get up in people's faces to block anyway.

Bombs are great. 3po is a life saver. Recon specialist is still a chance to miss plus it's an action taken away if I go with eu. Which I love on her

Yes pretty much, the thing is going recon spec not taking the EU, because of the point you make.

So the question is which miranda is better the blocker or the range3 TLT spammer bomb dropper? dunno tho.

It depends on who she is with. Id say blocker with dash...based on tournament experience

Ok, I don't have golden can of C3, but i have Miranda. I'm trying to find optimal build, and my thoughts come back to such rare bird as Lando. Its random as hell, but can net you 5-6 evade tokens during all game. Combined with advanced slam it might be usefull

The non PTL Dash list you had first...

Dash Rendar

Lone wolf

Outrider

HLC

R2-D2

Anti-pursuit lasers

Is really an anti-meta list in that it excels at taking out Soontir Fel and other higher PS ships with anti-pursuit lasers. R2-D2 and Lone Wolf is all about defense and is great when the two ship meta is dominating. Regening shields and having rerolls on defense are great. It plays way differently than PTL dash. I actually like it better because you are not 'limited' to green maneuvers each turn and you are a bit more nimble as a result. You still have a native barrel roll which helps with repositioning as needed. An R2-D2 anchor with Miranda just seems brutal because of the regen. You should be able to outlast your opponent and wear them down.

Havent tried that version, thought about that but i dont know if i can fly that good to block with Dash, at least thats my fear about taking this list.

May be i should not worry that much about blocking but moving and letting them predict wrong enough to get too close?

You don't have to forcefully go in for the block, you can still play in the obstacles for cover and stay at range. But if they aggressively pursue you to get into the donut, you can switch gears and go for a short turn (1 turns are my fav) and barrel roll back into them, or just turn in where you think they will be, focus up, and prep the defenses. Obviously, if you are playing against more than a few ships you need the rest of the list to thin the herd along with Dash while skirting the edges. It's very interesting to play because it's less predictable where you are going to end up most of the time because you do not have to choose green maneuvers.

Even before this style of Dash play was made popular by the winning Nationals Champion, it was the style I preferred. I did not use R2-D2 crew, but I had a non-PTL dash that was always enjoyable.
