Living Force vs. Unifying Force.

By Brucewayne, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

I'm trying to make my character for a campaign and I'm trying to decide which view of the Force he would follow. I know the Living and Unifying are the two main "orthodox" views among the old Jedi Order with the Unifying being a bit more popular with the Council. Was it purely a matter for philosophical debate or would a follower of the Living Force react to situations differently than a follower of the Unifying Force? And of so, could someone provide an example? I assume Qui-Gon followed the Living Force because he tells Obi-Wan to "be mindful of the Living Force."

From my point of view. (hehe)

They would react quite similar, if not the same.

But you can read about Force Here

It might give you deeper look into it and there are few quotes to follow up.

Hope it will help.

The way I understood it, having done some research on the subject a few years ago for my D6 campaign, is that the followers of the Unifying Force would attempt to divine the future through active use of things like the Foresee power as well as interpreting visions and the like. Then they would try and manipulate events in the present to bring about the most desireable outcome in the future. Adherents of the Living Force were mostly of the philosophy that it was important to do what was right and good at this moment and then the future would sort itself out.

Somewhat simplified, but that's my take on it.

It's be said that if the Jedi Council were more aware of the moment like Qui-Gon, they would have foreseen Palpatine's plan and unraveled the plot before it even happend. In my opinion, if Qui-Gon had survived Episode I, he would have led the Jedi to identify Palpatine as Sidious well before the Clone Wars even began.

Yes, Qui-Gon is my favorite Jedi and most of my Jedi characters adhere to the Living Force.

There is no Unifying Force, at least in canon. Here is the canon link:

There's a lot more if you watch the TCW final arc with Yoda in season 6.

So Cosmic Force is the canon version of Unifying Force, or something else?

I think it's close, but different. From what I understand, Force users can't really tap into the Cosmic Force.
