Flamethrower vs. Thermal Shielding System

By Redeemer31, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hello!

I was curious as to what people thought about a PC using a flamethrower (more specifically, an under-barrel flame projector) against a NPC wearing armour with a Thermal Shielding System mod. Looking at the rules, it doesn't look like the amour mod would help against the flamethrower, defensively. In your opinion though, should it? I can always houserule it (which I probably will) but I was curious as to what other people think. Upgrade the attack difficulty by one? Add one or two black dice as well?

Thanks!

Unless the Thermal Shielding is supposed to allow you to step down into lava, then I'd be of the opinion that it doesn't help against the flamer which is actually delivering burning fuel and plasma directly to the target as opposed to just being radiant heat like you'd get when sitting near a campfire.

Maybe give them a boost die to resist the damage?

At most I'd give the attacker an extra setback dice, just to slightly reduced the chances of triggering a critical.

Maybe increase the Adv cost to go critical by 1

yeah proof against open flames isn't really the same as... getting blasted by a flamethrower.. Maybe you could ontop of the setback die make putting out burn easier since the armor is coated
