Double Gunner?

By dewbie420, in X-Wing Rules Questions

How would two gunners work? I'm assuming I shoot with my cannon and miss, both Gunners trigger- giving me two additional 3-dice attacks. Since the rules state that I can choose a different target, can I declare 2 different targets with the Gunner attacks? Or do both extra attacks have to be declared against one target?

As the first gunner says you cannot attack again, the 2nd gunner won't be able to do anything.

I dont think double gunners work since as soon as you use your first gunner to perform a primary weapon attack, you cannot perfom another attack this round. This means that the second gunner wont be able to attack.

Regardless, you may chose a different target than the original one with you gunner attack.

This is correct, the 2nd gunner would never work.

Same thing if you do Luke/Gunner. The card states that you are unable to attack again that round.....

woops.

Correct. But that's entirely irrelevant to what is being discussed here.

no not entirely as the concept of double gunner would give you to re rolls.

It actually does not. It gives you two separate attacks. Attack =/= reroll. Reroll is something you do during an attack (amongst other times).

Rerolling dice is considered a type of dice modification, which occurs during an attack , during specific steps when rolling attack or defence dice.

Playing someone in a tourney this weekend who ran Chewie with two gunners. When I asked why, he said, "Wookie party!."

... He was wearing a onesie Chewie hoodie-thing. So...

Worst part is, I lost pretty badly, and mostly because I couldn't dodge the one useful gunner :/

Well that was an extra 5 points for nothing. I hope he didn't try using that second gunner.

As for the onsie-hoodie thing, clearly he was taking "fly casual" to a new level. :)

His opening line was, "I know the second gunner doesn't do anything. It's a Wookie party."

... This was the second round of the tournament, so it's possible he found out a bit too late to make the change, but he played it off well enough. And the Wookie outfit almost makes me want to give him the benefit of the doubt.
