First game with new core

By gambit1977, in X-Wing

I ran a dash and poe list. Here are my thoughts.

1 the new damage deck is brutal

2 the t70 is a very good ship.

3 i need more praxtice with the troll

5 overall after reading through the updated rule book im happy with the 2new cores i purchased.

Id like to see other peoples thoughts

I ran the straight demo game with a guy who was interested in the game; the T-70 is quite the dodgy git.

The TIE/FO, oh man was that fun to fly! The combination of a s loop then any speed two maneuver to clear stress is pretty sick. But once I got the hang of it, my opponent (who was doing really well!) Stood no chance.

I can't wait to put down 6 of these things in a game!

I've played with the new core set a few times so far, (it is also the only X wing stuff I have). And so far i've been impressed, I like all 3 of the ships and I found you really have to know the actual distance of the templates. There was a couple times where I underestimated how far my ship would be moving and ended up on top of my enemies ship or on an asteroid. So its good to glance over and look at the templates when your picking your move.

I still want to get the original core set so I can play with the OT ships as well. I doubt i'll be getting another TFA core, as the pilots are too generic and there really isn't a point in doing it. So my next purchase will likely be the old core, and then either a tie interceptor or any further ships released from the new film.

I just played a game using my T-70 and another using my F/O Ties. The T-70 is crazy!! I ran Red Vet with PTL and BB-8. I had little to no trouble placing it where I wanted it.

The F/O Ties are just as fun. I ran two of the named with a heavily kited Deathrain. Both Ties did their job quite well and PTL on Omega ace = pain!

I think the new TIE/fo's are really good, despite what others claim about them being inefficient.

Haven't had any experiences with the T-70s yet, though.

They've almost precisely the same efficiency as a Chardaan Refit A-wing - the A-wing has slightly more greens and boost, the TIE/FO has slightly more versatile Reds and barrel roll.

And A-wings are pretty excellent. The Empire just isn't used to flying a nimble ship that emphasises tankiness over fire-power; it's an anti-Interceptor. :)

One more person that has forgotten about the pre-fix Advanced and post-nothing Defender.

They still blow up!!!

The new core set hasn't had a spectacular debut at my FLGS, because only one person went out and bought the new core at target. We have (the other people at the store) been focusing his new ships like crazy, unknowingly, so neither the T-70 or the F/O tie have had a real chance to shine. (like any new ship, you have to learn the ropes)

Although just about everyone but myself has the new core ordered through the FLGS... so i'm sure they get their chance soon.
