First game out, help with my Rebels build please

By Wiredin, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've played this a few times casually. But we play without upgrades to keep it casual and learn the game. Next week i plan to go down to my local store for a local casual play day. This is what I was thinking of fielding:

Horton Salm (32)

TLT

R2 Astromech

Ten Numb (34)

Predator

Keyan Farlander (34)

E2

Determination

C3PO

In theory Keyan will be very hard to kill with the C3P0 and Determination combination. But I could be wrong as I haven't played with upgrades yet. Horton should be able to deal some heavy damage and TN should help deal with additional damage.

I was thinking of swapping TN out for Wedge with Outmaneuver and R7T1 (taking the R2 off Salm as Wedge would be more agile. Which would be:

Wedge (35)

Outmaneuver

R7-T1

horton Salm (31)

TLT

Keyan Farlander (34)

E2

Determination

C3P0

OR

Swap Wedge/TN out for a heavily upgraded A Wing which would look like:

Horton Salm (31)

TLT

Keyan Farlander (37)

E2

Determination

Ion Cannon

C3Po

Jake Farrell (32)

Shield Upgrade

A-Wing Test Pilot

PTL

Predator

Chardaan Refitt

Jake gets the shields to help live a little longer, Predator gives him a little extra attack. Ion canon gives Keyan adds a control element to the build.

How I'm hoping this build works is that Salm and Farlander stay close together to just deal out punishment for anyone around them tanking it out while Wedge/Jake sweep around for the kill. or using TN the three move in formation and just focus fire as much as possible

Personally, I think your first list is the best. However, if you have a "Mangler" Cannon, it works amazingly well with Ten Numb, better than Predator. Other than that, it looks like a solid list.

Also, I had to go and look up C-3PO's effect; it is amazing, particularly on something with an agility of 1 like a B-Wing.

Agreed, Numb really wants a mangler, or calculation.

Jake loves P-rockets and autothrusters, and maybe VI to up his PS to a good ol' 9. I've also been hammered by a Jake with prockets and outmaneuver. It was brutal.

Farlander digs advanced sensors, to get a move before his stressy fit, or fcs, to have a 'focus' and TL, even when he's stressed.

I like the lists, they look fun, but if you have the space, you could try and squeeze biggs and a z-95 blocke in with horton & numb - I'm sure your opponent would let you r proxy the new 'integrated astromech' mod too, if for no other reason than their curiosity!

Good luck, and fly casual! :)

Farlander also loves Opportunist. Gives him the stress for his autoocus AND gives him an extra attack, all in one handy package.

Dr Zoidberg reminded me of something...

I've run Farlander with Opportunist, and while its good, it doesn't always give you the stress (you can only use it sometimes). I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet, but I've been planning to use PTL instead on him. Target Lock, Focus for defense, or barrel roll, and the the stress token you need for his ability.

Which ones the "mangler" and what does it come with? Sorry, newbie :P

I'm still working on the synergy and having ships support each other properly. Thats one reason i was using the C3PO on the B-Wing, seemed like a great way to keep it alive longer giving a minimum of 1 evade all the time.

That's true. It is situational. The trick is to pair him with other attacks to try and ensure that whoever he is attacking does not have focus/evade tokens. Wes is the obvious choice in this regard.

True. I didn't think about Wes. Maybe my friend will loan me him to try out.

And the "Mangler" is great even without Ten Numb. Coming with the M-3A Scyk (along with some other cannons and the ever-useful stealth device), the "Mangler" is 4 points, and provides a 3-dice attack with which you can change one of your hits to a critical hit.
