Wave 8 including the Imperial Assault Carrier=$214.65(US)

By dewbie420, in X-Wing

I love this game but I hope the Waves won't get any bigger because I wanna pay off my credit card before Wave 11. I think waiting for the Amazon price competition wars to breakout will work better next time- I could save about $60 if I wait a week or two after release. I am still praying for a pre-Christmas availabilty... so I can tell Santa Claus in time.

I buy 1 of each expansion and then beef up my Scum fleet as needed but I realize that other players/collectors have different buying needs so...

How much will Wave8 cost you?

$60 plus shipping. For one prototype tie advanced. And one gozanti. I'm stopping getting everything. Just gonna focus on imps.

Then imagine you're a player in europe.

In the UK a $10 ship retails at £10

You're not getting it so bad, we however pay well over the odds for xwing

I think its even worse for australians. I know wargames used to cost a fortune there

I might go to Oregon just to save a dozen bucks on sales tax.

About the same prices we get in Canada, I think(20CAD's roughly £10), or at least got before our dollar went completely tips-up, I think they've raised it from ~15CAD (LGS had it at 18 most places before it crept up to 20), so we're probably going to see 25 for small expansions. Mediums are already at 30-35.

I generally go 3 of each small ship, 2 of each large (might only go 1 Ghost this time). I'll only get 1 T70 XWing and 2 FO TIE Fighters, since I already have 2 Ep 7 cores. 2 Assault Carriers. So... Around $280 from MiniMarket. Ow.

And I haven't bought any Wave 7 yet either.

Will drive 20 minutes to Coolstuffgames, which price matches their website. Plus I'll have it in hand before website preorders even ship.

$200 messily little bucks for all dat glory... I call that a bargain!

$130 ... even betters!

Take stand and only buy for a certain faction, and/or limit the number of ships you purchase. Until you finally cave to the draconian business practices of FFG by packing the cards in ships you don't want or need.

Alas, I buy it, but talk about getting screwed.

Or go to eBay and pay $7 per card, on average.

Yeah! Take a stand against the Man, who wants to... um, sell you more toys than you might otherwise want to buy in an ideal purchasing situation?

Up until the early part of this year, new waves went out of stock almost as soon as they arrived, and re-prints took eons to come back into stock.

Nowadays FFG seem to have a much better handle on the demand for new and old stuff and seem to have kept stock levels for most expansions pretty consistent.

So while it might feel like new (and relatively expensive) expansions are coming thick and fast at the moment, there just doesn't seem to be the overwhelming need to immediately pre-order two of everything three months in advance - I can get what I want at my leisure and in accordance with my budget.

3x times worse for a brazilian.!

1 Dollar = 4 reais now.

214 dollars = 856 reais (minimum wage is 788).

2. (often lowercase) rigorous; unusually severe or cruel:

FFG forcing the purchase of 2 Star Vipers because you need Autothrusters is most certainly draconian. Forcing the purchase of a $90 Tantive IV because you need C-3PO and R2-D2 is most certainly draconian. And most recently, forcing the purchase of the $100 Raider to fix the TIE Advanced is a bend over job using sand as lube.

Like I said, I buy it, and it is my disposable income. It doesn't mean I have to be blind to the draconian douchebaggery of FFG.

It's still not forcing, it's your choice. FFG incentivizes purchases because they are a company, not a charity. And it is DEFINITELY not draconian. "Unusually severe or cruel" treatment in spending disposable income on toy spaceships? C'mon. There are dozens of news stories out there right now that are actually draconian, none of them involve a tabletop strategy game.

I suspect that expensive 6+ ship waves may become the norm around here. With Disney releasing a new movie every year for the foreseeable future along with Rebels and whatever other TV show(s) that come out (Not to mention comics, video games, and the lingering shreds of the EU), there is likely to be more ships than FFG can keep up with.

Start saving up! (You don't really need that 401k anyway, right?)

X-Wing is still soooo much cheaper than when I played Magic competitively, and my ships look a lot cooler on my shelf than my cards ever did. Pretty sure it's a lot cheaper than 40k as well, as I just converted a guy at my FLGS the other day. He was STOKED to drop "only" like $120 to have a competitive list and core set. Also, the meta doesn't seem to shift as quickly or significantly as Magic does, so it seems like you could keep playing the same list for quite some time and continue to get better at it. You don't need to run Fat Han to be competitive, right? I think it's easy to lose sight of that after you've gone completely off the deep end (as I have) and really want to have the resources to play any cool new list that comes along.

Get over yourself. No one, especially FFG, is forcing you to buy anything. It's a game, purchased voluntarily, of toy plastic space ships. It's hardly an issue of them forcing you to do anything. If you do feel that you're being forced, imtimidated, coerced, or otherwise being made to purchase any of said toy plastic space ships against your will, I strongly suggest you contact your local law enforcement office or retain legal counsel to investigate legal action against said person/persons.

Sheesh. Drama queen much?

FFG could be nicer in the way they bundle their products. They could be much nicer about it. Bundling the TIE Advance fix with the Raider was a particularly diabolical decision on their part. But according to the one-eyed folks on this forum, we should all just be happy about it.

Yeah I would have rather they released a repacked/revised or tie advanced 2.0. I will never ever buy the raider...don't like the look of it much and I don't play epic games. But now i'm kind of gimped out of ever enjoying a competent tie advanced unless I ebay the fixes for a comical price.

If anyone pays full retail price for everything they are spreading their own cheeks. The Raider was easily got for more than $30 off of retail within a week of release, and it included a TIE Advanced and 4 copies of the upgrades. If you play Imperial, you wanted one anyway. A fix for the Advanced was a bonus gift.

I see StarVipers for $13 online free shipping too, cheaper than buying the upgrade cards separately.

Shop smart people, shop S-mart.

*The only rip I see is the TIE Defender being the only Imperial source for Predator. But I was buying Kihraxz for Scum lists so I was able to skip it.
