K-wing / A-wing Synergy?

Has anyone had success with K-wing / A-wing lists? It seems to me there's a potential synergy in filling the table with mines and then using an A-wing or two outmanuever less agile opponents.

I tried the following list the other day:

1)Warden Squadron Pilot w/ Cluster Mines, Proximity Mines, Bombadier, Extra Munitions, Advanced Sensors

2) Jake Ferrel w/ PTL, Autothrusters, Proton Rockets, A-wing Test Pilot

3) Gold Squadron Pilot w/ Ion Cannon, Plasma torpedoes, Bomb Loadout, R2 Astromech, Seismic Charges, Hull Upgrade

I played against an Imperial Aces list (Whisper, Fel, Juno Eclipse) and thought I'd get hammered.

It turned out I almost won (ran out of time, but had Jake in behind Whisper with only 1 Hull left, killing him would have won me the game). My K-wing was shot down by turn 2, but the cluster mines it dropped before dying restricted my opponents movement.

I'd definitely rethink my upgrades before trying this agian. Any ideas or similar lists out there?

It sounds to me like you need some way to help keep your K-Wing alive longer. Something like a shield upgrade maybe, or a ship that can absorb enemy fire instead of it.

I've been thinking the K-Wing and A-Wing have some synergy recently as well. Yesterday I fielded a similar list, but I was playing Jake (same as yours plus VI, no PRockets) with Miranda Doni + TLT & some bombs, and a Gold Squadron with TLT. TLT is just so dangerous that every opponent is going to focus fire on the turrets while Jake is free to flank and fly into range 1 behind enemy ships. I'd consider throwing a couple TLT's in there instead of ICT, the Bomb Loadout/Seismic Charges on the Y, and whatever fits your preference on the K.

you can't take Advanced Sensors on K-wing because it doesn't have System slot. Seismic Charges are too bad on low-PS pilots. I think you can drop some useless things here (like plasma torps, hull upgrade, bombardier etc.) to take 1 more A-wing or maybe Z-95 for more firepower and HP in your squad.

Adding the TLT on the Y-wing is a good idea to draw fire away from the K-wing. I was keeping the turret because the addition of mines would make it harder for the Y-wing to maneuver and keep targets in its primary fire arc.

To make your matchup with aces lists stringer you can add a Conner Net to the K-Wing. Don't forget it does one guaranteed damage!
