Next preview you want to see

So what occurs when they go back to the destroyed state but no longer qualify to be destroyed?

It already qualified to be destroyed.

We shall see.

It exits the state for being destroyed temporarily but then enters it again but now it does not qualify to be destroyed. Hmmm we shall see how FFG handles that

It does not exit the state of being destroyed at any point. The ship IS destroyed upon receiving damage cards, it is then treated "as if" it were not destroyed, but is still very much destroyed. If you remove damage cards during the Rieekan ability, the ship no longer qualifies to be destroyed, but that doesn't matter because it already was destroyed.

Rieekan's ability triggers specifically on a ship being destroyed, which occurs immediately upon receiving the final damage card, and again there is no condition you can meet which removes the destroyed status. If there were, it would be in the rules reference, and there can't be an "un-destroy" trigger unless FFG adds that in an FAQ.

It doesn't need to re-qualify for being destroyed at any point, since that state never changes once it's applied.

Alternatively, if Rieekan read "The ship IS NOT destroyed until the end of the Status Phase", then sure you could go ahead and repair to your heart's content, but it doesn't say that. (Maybe it will on release, who knows?)

We shall see. As I always do, I expect to be wrong but this can go the way that XI7's did for some.

To play the Devil's Advocate, there was no reference in the manual about No Upgrade Being used Twice on the one ship, until they added that due to Wave 2... So there's at least precedent for them to do THAT sort of thing.

Well, it wasn't really *possible* until Wave 2, so there didn't need to be any such rule.

I feel pretty confidently that if FFG intended for ships to be able to repair away the destroyed status, they'd have simply written Rieekan as "the ship IS NOT destroyed until..."

Why bother using the words "As if it weren't destroyed" otherwise?

If they do errata it to allow for the removal of the destroyed status, it will represent the most poorly considered wording on an Armada card yet. That's not to say it's impossible. Hell, Rieekan may even read totally differently by the time he's in our hands.

We shall see, but I wager a carton of blue milk on my interpretation.

I agree with Lyraeus on this, depending on final wording. I only do so because of retroactive Motti deaths. But I'd be willing to wait for an exact ruling from the makers.

I'm genuinely curious on how retroactive Motti deaths would affect this.

Let's say a VSD has 10 hull points thanks to Motti, with eight damage cards.

Motti is killed, his effect ends, hull points drop back to eight, there are eight damage cards, the ship is immediately destroyed.

I don't know of any interaction relating to Motti that would "un-destroy" a ship, which is the important part.

I only say that in the respect that if something can kill a ship through effect, what's stopping it from coming back?

I'm not preaching it's right or wrong... As of right now none of us know the wording of the final product. So everyone is speculating.

To this I would say the fact that there is no rule allowing for the removal of the Destoyed status.

We won't know until the card hits, then we'll probably have some back-and-forth in the rules forum, then someone will email FFG and all will be well.

This why I want MC30 to be the next preview!

Am I the only one who wants to see Rogues and Villains ? :P

Am I the only one who wants to see Rogues and Villains ? :P

Yes.

No, actually after seeing what Intel can do, I'm pretty **** excited about Rogues and Villains.

I'm very curious as to what the villains might add to my Imperial bomber wing.

I want to see all the previews but my order is

Yeah, the Imperial villains realyl haven't been spoiled at all save for Boba Fett. But because they are behind the Rebel cards, you can't see them as much :P

I'm very curious for the Han Solo Card. Any idea on what Grit does ? And he also seems to be able to activate as a Rogue at the beginning of the ship phase rather than the squadron phase. OP :P

Grit: You must proclaim one of two statements when activating:

"It's not my fault!!!"

Or

"Never tell me the odds!"

I would like to see the Rogues and Villains next as the idea being implied is they will give life to squadrons where there isn't any. I would like to see why.

Beyond that I am more excited to read up on the upgrade cards than the ships. So what ever comes tonight will be fun.
