Next preview you want to see

By mobow213, in Star Wars: Armada

So we had the ISD and Homeone preview. Now the question is what preview due you want to see on this coming tuesday which is when we get our next one.

so Imp raider, the MC30, or the scum and villainy group.

Me I really want to see the scum and villiany set.

It will most likely be the Raider.

MC30c. . . . I want to know what it will cost in points. . . Must. . . Know. . .

I think it will be the raider...want to see what commander is comming with it...i think the one i care the least about is the scum one...the falcon is the only one i want in that pack...

Whichever one shows the Independence title for the MC-80... so probably Rogues and Villains. :P

But really, who am I kidding? I'd take any of them. :D

Please no spoils from bothans before this next preview

I'd like to get a look at the Raider, myself.

In X-Wing I'm underwhelmed with it, but I can see MANY niches it can potentially fill in my fighter-heavy Imperial fleet.

No more previews.. get on with it and bring the goods, FFG!

Rieekan. . . I want to see how they worded his ability and to see if he still is the Zombie Lord. . .

Same here, I was just thinking about it today. If your ships don't die until the end of the round does that mean you could repair enough to avoid death?? Also since Rieekan's ship wouldn't die until the end of the phase per his ability it would seem he is guaranteed to last through the end of that round, so no Motti chain affects happening to him!

I was thinking about that the other day. How it was worded in the Wave 2 Here They Come preview is that after your ship is destroyed it stays in play until the end of the round. Basically your ship is already gone, but you get to take your turn. I would say no to engineering to repair.

We already have Rieekan's wording; I don't see them changing that by release, maybe his point cost, but I don't see any issue with his wording.

He says that when a ship is destroyed, it is left in play and treated as though it wasn't destroyed until the end of the status phase. At that time, it reverts to being treated as though it was destroyed, regardless of if it has repaired or not.

Remember that you continue to add damage even past the max hull value. Why have such a rule if there was an idea in place to be able to survive in a such situations.

I think the raider and MC-30c will be in the same preview.

I would like that

I don't think the raider will have enough content on its own and both are small ships.

I think the wording of Reiken, in conjunction with the rules for overkilling damage to the target once destroyed, will be a very exact thing.

Say you deal just enough damage to destroy the target. It then zombies, activates and uses repair to discard a damage card. Not dead. However, if you overkilled and dealt an extra 2 damage cards, it activates, repairs, discards a damage card (it could be a face up, so still important as it may affect the rest of its activation), finishes its activation (which could involve moving to ram or obstruct an enemy ship), then still dead and removed at the end phase.

To be destroyed it has to fulfill the conditions of being destroyed.

Here is the rule on Destroyed ships and squadrons.

"A ship is destroyed when it has damage cards equaling or exceeding its hull value. A squadron is destroyed when it is reduced to zero hull points. Additionally, a ship or squadron is destroyed if a portion of its base is outside the play area."

So to be destroyed the ship has to fulfill the condition of being destroyed at the end of the status phase.

Only enough you can maneuver off the board and still be there. . .

We already have Rieekan's wording; I don't see them changing that by release, maybe his point cost, but I don't see any issue with his wording.

I don't know. . . Sure that is his wording but it could also mean that at the end of the round it would check again to see if the ships is destroyed. If the hull points are not 0 or in the negative the ship could survive.

Remember that you continue to add damage even past the max hull value. Why have such a rule if there was an idea in place to be able to survive in a such situations.

You continue to add damage to the ship even in excess of its hull value for the same reason you shuffle your damage deck before a game, or deal the FIRST card faceup when a critical effect lands rather than just any card.

Each damage that makes it through is a card, and if you don't deal those damage cards to the ship then it will have a direct impact on which card you draw the next time someone lands a critical.

The rule for damage reads: "When a ship has damage cards equal to its hull value it is immediately destroyed."

There is NO condition anywhere in the rulebook which you can meet, including reducing the number of damage cards after this condition is met, which can undo the "destroyed" status. All Rieekan allows if you to to act "as if it were not destroyed until the end of the Status Phase" at which point it goes right back to being destroyed regardless of the damage cards in play, which no longer matter since it was "immediately destroyed" once its damage cards equalled its hull value.

Now, if Rieekan said something like "When a friendly ship or blah blah blah is destroyed, it IS NOT destroyed until the end of the status phase" that would be one thing, but it says to treat it "AS IF" it were not destroyed, so the destruction of the ship still occurs at the moment the final damage card lands, it just isn't removed until the round plays out. Hell, Rieekan only activates when a ship or unique squadron is actually destroyed according to the card, and again there is no condition you can meet to un-destroy something.

Regardless, I'd like to see an FFG clarification on this because I can see it being a point of contention.

So what occurs when they go back to the destroyed state but no longer qualify to be destroyed?

Everyone grabs their preferred migraine treatment or the universe implodes,

The Raider. It's FFG's baby and I'm curious with how they're gonna design a ship free from the constraints of lore.

So what occurs when they go back to the destroyed state but no longer qualify to be destroyed?

It already qualified to be destroyed.

We shall see.

It exits the state for being destroyed temporarily but then enters it again but now it does not qualify to be destroyed. Hmmm we shall see how FFG handles that
