But do you all feel the new X-wing and Tie are actually part of wave 8? or were they just tacked on to the end? Was just wondering if they will actually be available the same time as wave 8 or earlyer/later? The reason i ask is that i like to pre-order stuff and dont like it when i have stuff that gets tied up in the Q waiting becouse anuther item is NOT available? (Had some stuff on pre-order with the Raider). For those of you that don't pre order what happens is they don't ship the preorder until ALL items are available.. Any way as a hedge against this I ordered my Assault carriers/ and wave 8 in different batches minus the T-70 and Ties of course.. Also it gave my wallet more time to recover!! will be ordering the new Ties and Xs when my Wallet fully recovers which might be awhile due to wife's birthday and anniversary coming up in Oct!!!
kind of an Odd question
based on the article text..."added to wave 8" linking them like that means I'd expect them to be released at the same time. If I was FFG and going to release them later or sooner I wouldn't have made that connection. But you never know until the day gets here.
yeah I just figured they would be released in the following order to be safe.. Assault carrier, wave 8 then the expansion packs for the FO tie and T-70.. If I am wrong its not a big deal.... if I am right my plastic crack arrives sooner!!!
I'd guess that this way, they can sort out the shipping and logistics of the ships all at the same time. Ultimately, that means they're not dealing with shipping companies and order fulfillment twice within a short time. Any time a store can get their shipments bundled together, instead of multiple little ones, they save on paying the freight costs.
yeah I do bundle my own orders to take advantage of free shipping and ALSO split it between TWO different dealers if and when possible.. "No single points of failure" if one dealer doesn't get my plastic crack and the other does... hasn't happened yet..
They didn't have to add them to wave 8. They could have just called them an episode 7 wave or something. So I bet they're released together.
I've since learnt that the only good reason to pre order is to get the discount pre orders get at my local store.
Unless you take *months* to buy a wave and then find out stuff is selling out, well its usually in the strores for a while.
I think early on pre orders were a good idea as i remember i got into xwing just before the A wing wave and it was really hard to find Y wings anywhere.
Likewise later the falcon and bwing were tricky but these days most stores i see have their stock sorted out, they realise xwing is a big game so need to order a lot in, likewise FFG know they need to reprint ships more often.
The only time it ever even looked like an issue was the decimator/outrider release as in the UK most stores got half of what they expected due to the shipping disorder/issues. Even then my local store still had one or two of each of those in for a week or so.
I always wondered why there was space left between the original wave 8 announcement, now I know why?
I always wondered why there was space left between the original wave 8 announcement, now I know why?
That was my first thought upon seeing the new picture. It was definitely planned for the fuller picture from the start.
......now 2+1=? is an odd question....
Well it is kind of funny. Before Episode 7 S&V was 1 ship short from having as many ships as the original 2 factions. When Wave 8 was announced it seems reasonable that Scum will get two while the Imperials and (technically) the Rebels only get 1 new ship.
However Episode 7 came out and now all 3 primary factions (Rebel, Imperial, Scum) Have 2 ships for this wave. SO while some of the Episode 7 stuff seems rather jammed into everything (especially with the Big Retailer only force Friday release) it is hard to tell how far ahead Episode 7 was planned and if it started on the same time as the rest of Wave 8.
Edited by MarinealverI suspect it was planned ahead long enough - but the Force Friday release really was jammed in, and logistical issues meant they couldn't get their standard distribution chain within days either.
I'm actually fine with an extra double-release - it just means that Scum will be getting two ships next wave as well. More illicits! ![]()
