PILOTS

Rookie Pilot (21)

Biggs Darklighter (29)
X-Wing (25), R2-D2 (4)

Gold Squadron Pilot (25) x 2
Y-Wing (18), Bomb Loadout (0), Ion Cannon Turret (5), Seismic Charges (2)

I ran this twice today, the second game I dropped Bigg's and R2 for Wedge.

Basically the Y's ran into the middle of the interceptor formation(both times) and dropped both their sesmic charges. 1st time had 2 ints and a regular Tie fighter take two damage a piece, and the second game two ints one apiece. This build feel's a little broken with the Ion cannon turret. Basically the X-wing's are there just to run interference. I ran the rookie in formation with the Y's and used Bigg's/Wedge as a lone wolf of sorts (not so much with bigg's because of pilot card ability).

Both time's came out to a win.

thought's?

Not a fan of R2-D2 Biggs, feels like way too many points for what it acomplishes. More often than not just giving him a Hull Upgrade is just as usefull. I prefer him naked or with R4-D6.

Having Biggs naked gives you enough points for a third Ion-Seismic Y-Wing, which is superior to the Rookie.

I wouldn't call the Ion/Bomb interaction broken. It is fun and effective when you catch your opponent of guard and roll well on the ICTs, but after the Bombs are gone you are stuck with a very low damage output squad (although walking those Decimators of the board can be entertaining). Additionaly ICTs can be outmanouvered pretty reliably by staying out of range 1-2.

I think you can be successfull with this if you have the right feel for the squad. It is a nice one.

That's why I dropped Bigg's for Wedge.

I would rather take the Rookie, for three reasons. Despite my luck with the bombs, the rookie is there to either A) is cannon fodder and let's the Y's survive another round, or B) rolling 4 attack dice at range one. I got lucky both time's as both my opponent's focused the Y-wing's first, and I got some lucky hit/crit rolls both games as well. Also the fact that people are complaining "the T-65 is no longer valid; T-65 sux; T-65 needs a major fix", makes me want to run them for the sole fact of proving that the ship still has worth in the meta game.

Of course I like to think I have upped the bar a little, because none of the interceptors had PTL or Auto thrusters. That being said, this list will probably get stomped next weekend.
