hi i am a new player just got books and i wanted to find a group but i dont know of any sights to use was wondering what people here use to find groups

The sites available depend on where you live and whether you want to play in meatspace or not.

Reddit has RPG subs as well as a specific LFG (looking for group) sub. http://www.reddit.com/r/lfg

Obsidian Portal has a 'Games Nearby' section. http://www.obsidianportal.com/map

I've previously found groups through sites like http://www.ukroleplayers.com/

And there's Roll20 for playing online. http://roll20.net/

These are just a small selection but should give you an idea of what's out there.
