[Wave 9] TIE Special Forces pilot card

By Odanan, in X-Wing

I have no idea how an auxiliary arc should be printed on a small base chit.

If the thing on it's shoulder is an antennae, then it's much more elaborate than the one on the TIE/FOs. But that doesn't have to be a System Slot. It could simply be a DIFFERENT Tech upgrade than the Comm Relay.

Hmm, that's a good point. I never noticed that the statbar takes up the entire back half of the base token before.

I hate to be that guy, but there's at typo in the text. "Sofisticated" is spelt "sophisticated."

Thank you! I will fix that.

still a joke at 25, 22 would probably be the absolute maximum even given the aux arc

Cartel Smugglers clock in at 20 points for cannons, and even they are jokes <_<

hopefully, the higher ps and extra hull would help dodge a similar fate

At 25 points, you're asking it to be as good as a Tactician B-Wing, which is crazy for a two-attack ship. That's part of the reason you don't see Tycho very often -- he's too expensive for a two-attack ship. For the same cost as the First Order Pilot you have there, you could get two TIE fighters. That means twice as many shots per round, almost double the durability, and twice as many ships.

Compare to the A-Wing: same stat line except for the hull/shield trade-off. Similar actions. The TIE would probably have a worse dial, but the aux arc evens that out. Better upgrade bar . . . but even so, I'd make it 19 points at MOST (two more than a Green Squadron). Yeah, an HLC would be cool, but it already costs 7 points -- four hit points is a serious glass cannon at 26 points (even then, it's pretty much a Scyk with Hull Upgrade, and Scyks aren't that common).

Basically: the aux arc is good, but it's not that good. Likewise, the upgrades are good, but the more you load on a fragile ship, the riskier it gets.

I'd cut the cannon slot. They're priced for installation on three die ships and this is a two die ship: it'll either be too powerful with the cannon or too weak without it.

Looks cool but I think the 'extra' guns on the Sp.Forces TIE should allow for a second attack in lieu of the crew and cannon slots (with Aux Firing Arc)...

I want to add a missle slot and then increase hull & shield by 1. I'm not good at figuring squad points, but this ship should not be "cheap".

edit: The Aux Arc printing thing will most likely crush my ideas for the extra guns..... so Turret slot.

I think if it was just a rear arc with tech and sensor for low twenty point cost and pilot skill 3, we could be looking a good niche ship for the game. Perhaps 20 points, not really worth spamming but more stacking it with upgrades and squeezing it into a 3-4 ship empire build. I think placing it point cost wise right next to the TAP but just serve a different role. The TAP is like a tie advanced/interceptor light. And the inquisitor will probably be the star in that field, but the sf tie can be a really efficient ship, not powerful but more tricks and efficientcy, even ac out of both arcs can be pretty scary. The only negative would be it could kill the generic tie advanced. Maybe another way to do it is take away the sensor and give all of them an ept? That could make it even more interesting.

Tail Gunner

Crew. Tie Special forces only.

After you perform an attack with your primary weapon using your primary firing arc you may perform a primary attack using your auxiliary firing arc.

2pts, because two die attacks are terrible.

There is precious little we know of this craft, other than it can fire backwards. Perhaps the wing 'cogs' are shield generators, or a cloaking device, or even anime style missle launchers.

While a crew slot is likely, it is not a guarantee.

I hate to be that other guy, but when did 'spelled' become 'spelt'? Is that a thing the youngsters do, or is it British or did English change when I wasn't looking?
