Making a new planet. Outside input would make it more interesting.

To start I want to use the word "entropy" slightly changed in some way as the name of the planet.

The central idea of the planet is that it was the site the conclusive battle of some ancient conflict. The entire planet is covered in old decayed or decaying ships. The planet is actually semi sentient and is able to manipulate the force to affect tech in odd ways. The eventual outcome was both fleets crashed into the planets surface covering it several miles deep in debris. The semi sentient planet has adapted to the tech available to it through the droid brains within the vessels and has created a type of hive mind.

I am thinking that the planet may have started forming insect like droids. These droids would be building something that would help the planet become more aware or maybe more in touch with the force (not certain if it would be light, dark, or grey). The PC's would likely need to stumble onto the planet through some type of hyperspace mishap. When they entered orbit their systems would begin acting wonky. Sensor range extended, turning left makes you go down, life support turns the air way down or the heat way up, and other things of this nature.

I would need several ways for the PC's to figure out it is the planet. Several ways for them to begin communicating with the planet. Potentially ways to either destroy the hive mind or help it come to full self awareness.

That's no moon...

The planet could start responding to things they say, things that they know can't be spied on. Maybe structures change form to make messages or objects begin to take on familiar shapes that show that someone or something is making these changes?

What created the vergeance in the force? How did events shape it? is it angry? sad? did it try and stop the battle? Encourage it?

My current vision is that the planet would be a light side planet that was trying to be corrupted and controlled by different dark side factions. The tech interference would be Planets attempt to stop the fight. I would also say Planet is lonely and scared, however this could easily change based on PC interpretation of what is happening.

Force visions are always a good way of clueing PC's into whats going on.

I know Star Wars is larger than life, but the fleets of even gargantuan space ships needed to cover the surface of even a small planet several miles deep (Star Destroyer is about a mile long) would have to be incredibly huge. Mind mindbogglingly huge.

Maybe over time more ships and fleets have been tricked into going to the planet? Or maybe there is a sentient race that goes into the stars and returns with ships to crash ....

Also maybe nanites .... that converted the planets previous living matter into more machines!!!

Not saying he shouldn't, but at least consider that the Earth's oceanic crust is 3-6 miles thick and on land masses it is 20-30 miles...

What about the name Entropos for the planet? Or perhaps Entrupios. Or something similar.

How set in stone is your background for the planet?

There are junk worlds (like Lotho Minor http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lotho_Minor )in the galaxy - planets that have for thousands of years been dumping grounds for garbage, refuse, derelict ships, and scrap of all kinds. What if your planet was once a lush and vibrant planet strong with the light side of the Force, but has been turned into a junk world? In ancient days, the planet was alive with the light side of the Force. Along came a spider, a Sith dude who sought to corrupt the planet. At the very least, he wanted to crush the light out of it. To this end, he manipulated governments and people to begin dumping their garbage on the world. It became known as the garbage can of the sector. Then the neighboring sectors. Eventually, Entropos was covered, miles deep in scrap, dead droids, derelict ships, and whatever else was unwanted or broken.

There may have been some thrown away droids that weren't quite dead, and they've been linking their minds to the remains of ship brains and old hypertranceivers. This is what the hive mind is forming out of. And it is building insect-like droids...

Now the planet cries out in anguish. What does it want? The impossible maybe.

Entropos isn't intelligent, not like a sentient being. But it is strong with the Force, or used to be. And it tried to use some super basic form of mechu-deru to communicate with the droid hive mind. It's at "war" with the droids now because the droids saw it as trying to tamper with it.
