[prequels] The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

By Tipperary, in X-Wing

"No... NOOOO NOOOOHHHHH" -Sheev

"UNLIMITED POWAR!!"

George Lucas inability to accept people didn't like his movies is pretty well known, instead he doubled down and pushed the prequels even when there was no demand.

And his staff too spineless to object just went with it and you can see the decline in quality, who could get enthused about making a prequel game instead of an OT one.

Look at red tails he insisted it was racism that made the studio reject it, in fact they knew it'd be a bomb and lo and behold they were right.

He had good ideas but hope was saved by his wife's changes and a **** good editor.

Just look what he made Spielberg do to ET, cgi'd guns into radios.

Knowing he can't hurt us anymore gives me hope for the future.

J.J. Abrams won't save you forever. Be careful what you wish for... (Muahaha haha haha!)

A Star Wars cartoon musical would be hilarious.

Let's get down to business, to defeat the scum!

Warriors heft your blasters, do not set for stun.

While I agree with all the other points, I can not agree with hating on the actors. They did the best job they could delivering their sh*tty worthless lines against a green screen in a lifeless sterile environment devoid of any sort of emotional connection to their set and settings.

While that's possible, it's not something anyone can really prove.

At the end of the day, the writing was terrible, and the performances were terrible. Are the performances terrible solely because of the writing? Maybe. But who can be sure.

I'd say that at the very least Ian Mcdiarmid saved every single one of his lines from being terrible. Ewan McGregor managed most of his as well (heck, he was subtle enough to get a couple of really skeptic "am I really saying this crit" lines though).

"No... NOOOO NOOOOHHHHH" -Sheev

Easily the best BIG NO! of any SW movie. It's like all the emotion that should have been delivered by the other actors was sucked up by ol Sheev and channeled to chew all the scenery. And that's why they had to use green screen.

You're the softest bunch I've ever met,

but you can bet before we're through

Mister, I'll make a Sith

out of you!

I can see it.

Star wars is at its best when it is silly. Bring on the musicals.

On that note, it's as though many people forget how goofy and campy Star Wars often was.

Someone has never seen the holiday special.

Do you HAVE to include Naboo??

Sorry, not a fan of Naboo Ships, but the rest looks pretty good.

Each to their own, but IMO with the exception of some of the EU ships, the N1 is the ugliest thing they've ever designed in Star Wars.

BRUSH YOUR TEETH

(also an entire bottle of listerine)

(I've already excluded the ugliest ship, that being the G-9 Rigger)

The N1 is a lovely ship.

And there is a lack of ships, it has a place to fill.

Even if there were plenty of ships it would still be one of (if not THE) first of my ship choices. Thing is an work of art.

Touche, I forgot about the G9.

Being an ugly mutated B-wing was a bad enough sin, but then Ani named his G-9 'Twilight'....ugh.

There are worse ship names out there. Just not a lot of them.

Ani was totes team Edward.

Clone Wars came out a month before Twilight (Vampires) did.

Should have a preliminary VASSAL extension out late tomorrow.

Will be missing some upgrade cards, but the ships, dials, and pilot abilities will all be there.

Twilight is a great name, Dragons of Autumn Twilight is a fantastic book. The Twilight zone was a great series.

Just because of unfortunate connotations due to recent poorly written pulp fiction doesn't mean it's not a cool word with some great historical uses.

Just like Vampire.

And Werewolf.

Why let a terrible attempt at literature that should be beyond your contempt taint that?

Because i'm human and bad memories are stronger than good memories.

It's just how our minds work.

I find willpower can beat that particular fallacy, but to each their own. Maybe in this case, given my preference for the dusk, and living in rural areas in the past where that time of the day is REALLY pretty, i've just got too many good memories for the aforementioned silly tween bollocks to take ahold.

Glittering aside, a police vessel called Twilight comes off as more intimidating than a pirate ship with the same name.

If I was playing EotE and saw something like that on my scan, I would just run.

Call it the Twilight Storm, give it 6 fighters on an external rack and a couple tractor beams, maybe an ion battery and suddenly it's quite intimidating I'd imagine...

Make it a 16KM long battleship with thick armour, massive torpedo launchers, hundreds of point defense guns, and heuge forward firepower, call it the Ascendant Twilight Judgement, and then watch for shrinkage.

Make it a 5metre long space tug called the Victorious Twilight... people would probably just laugh.

Make it an Eclipse Class Super-Star Dreadnought. Call it the Twilight Sparkle. Giggle.

Or the Rainbow Dash.... Fluttershy <is giggling a lot now>

My biggest scariest ship has to be the Fluttershy.

Now I'm imagining a morbidly obese wookie unboxing a my little gundark figure, filmed by a tactical droid in a fedora.

...and i am giggling like my 5 year old son.

GET A ROOM
