Aftermath to me read like a rough draft someone had accidentally sent it to the printer instead of the editor (especially the first act, average sentence length of ~four words). I'm guessing it was a good book ruined by time pressure. Nothing against the author, I know my best writing goes through up to 10 editing passes before I finally press publish. Let's hope TFA isn't the same.
