Force Awakens Special Forces TIE with rear firing weapons?
What do you think?
Probably.
Personally, I hope it just gets a rear firing arc. And they save the Turret slot for the TIE Aggressor.
Wave 9 probably. Next summer/late spring.
I'm thinking rear arc too... not that this has any real bearing on game mechanics but a true 360 degree turret would be blasting through the wing panels roughly half the time.
Good bet for Wave 9, maybe with that shuttle. Presumably there's at least one other new Reb fighter in the movie.
Edited by GreatMazinkaiserThere was concept art released of a new fighter.
I'm wondering how all the new movie pilots are going to be released.
We've got Poe and a bunch of generic x-wing pilots, when named x-wing pilots get introduced in the movie what kind of expansion will they get released in? Same goes for whoever gets to pilot the falcon.
If we get named resistance pilots, I'm sure they will come with the orange and black T-70. At this point, releasing with another ship is likely. Think an aces or most wanted pack, but scenes from the movie maybe. The orange and black T-70 and special forces TIE would make a good pack.
Or that particular T-70 and a Falcon Reissue.
Commonly thought and discussed in a few threads already is it will either have forward and rear arcs or a turret. Likely wave 9.
Special forces TIE will most likely have rear arc, probably 2 att, and the outside chance of a cannon slot. If it's a rear arc there should be a crew slot, if it's a turret, then no crew. System would be nice but th might opt for the new tech slot, and probably not both. 3 Agi, 3 hull, 2 shields? (Maybe 2 hull 2 shield) Focus TL, Evade, BR like TIE /fo. I guess we have no chance of Finn piloting one of these for the Rsistance... If he did it would probably be PS 1 since he's a stormy not one of the Brians.
if they make it, I think it will be 2 attack, 3 evade, 4 hull, 2 shields with rear arch. crew and tech upgrades....
I'm hoping there'll be a new Y-Wing released eventually if it shows up in the movie alongside the T-70
FFG can't make a rear arc on a small base ship that's less than 160 degrees because of the way the ship tokens are designed. I don't see 160 degree rear arc as a good representation for the special forces TIE/fo based on what I've seen so far. So my bet is it will either have a turret slot, or a 2 attack primary weapon turret.
FFG can add a rear firing arc to a small ship base with three minutes of Photoshop work. There's plenty of room on the base to move around some graphics.

I would love to see the concept 'Devil fighters' as the 'new' y-wings. Dusting off 40+ year old paintings and bringing them to life is what these sequel movies seem to be doing with a lot of designs.
I would also love to see completely new starfighters that still look like SW ships. So far we've only seen transports and capital ships besides the new TIEs and Xs.

I don't know how well the dials would match up for formation flying (probably not bad), but the thought of a swarm of shielded TIES with primary turret attacks lead by Howlrunner....

I just hear Sean Connery saying "Sorry son... They got us."

I did this in Photoshop in less than a half hour, without the source images.

Hope they're not antipursuit lasers... lol

No they can't, and no there isn't.

There's no stats on that. They're not going to do it.
That'd still work even with the stats on it, even though it'd be a bit busy.
Also, at least one of these guys is a graphics designer by trade... if they say it can be done, it can be.
So am I, and I say it can't be done because, as you say it's too busy, and they're not going to do any major alteration like remove the stats because everything we're seem from FFG favors consistency in their design. The lead designers have mentioned several time how their game design is limited by the physical reality of the actual product, and it's packaging.

The fore firing arc for the turret has to stay the same in the rear, otherwise the fighter could risk destroying its own wings. I'm not sure what that thing is on the right shoulder of the cockpit...sensors? A turret? In any case, they have to make a model of this ship...it just looks too cool.
I think it must be the new sensor upgrade slot.
