New to armada, need help building an initial list!

By cjnj193, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hello all, I'm just another new guy just getting into armada and was looking for advice on a good intro build with what little I have.

I have

Core set

Gladiator

Imperial fighters

Can I build anything decent or am I better off getting another victory? I kinda am short on money atm so I do not want to do too much but I really want to have something that can give me a good representation of the game. Any list advice would be much appreciated!

You've got a few good combos with what you have already, but you will eventually want a Victory expansion pack for sure.

With what you've got...

Victory-II
-Dominator
-H9 Turbolasers

This is a decent mid-range ship that can spam engineering commands to either dump into his blue dice OR just repair damage. Very adaptable. H9 are just to give you an accuracy if/when you need it. I'd recommend the Nebulon B expansion for XI7 turbolasers. Add upgrades as preferred.

Gladiator-I
-Admiral Screed (On a Victory preferably)
-Wulff Yularen
-Assault Concussion Missiles
-Demolisher
-Engine Techs

This ship is an absolute beast. First command dial take a navigate command and bank it as a token. Now you can spend that token on any turn to change your speed, tap Wulff and get the token back immediately, AND get an additional 1 speed 2 yaw movement right after your normal movement. To top it off, Demolisher lets you fire after your movement, so you can shoot, move, move, then shoot again!

As if this weren't enough, when you do land that brutal 4 black die broadside on a ship at close range, Screed will guarantee you a critical effect, setting off your assault concussion missiles and dealing two extra damage.

Really, with the way upgrade cards are distributed, it's good to buy one of everything, but I think a Victory expac would be helpful for you first and foremost for some excellent upgrades and titles for your two VSDs.

Thanks for the quick reply! I am seriously tempted to get a victory, especially because my FLGS is doing a 20% discount for Sullist to try to get people into the game. That gladiator sounds like a super fun build, I think I will certainly try it out, especially with like 3 people in my group of 5 playing rebels haha
