I just wish that the expansion pack came with two copies of the Integrated Astromech and Targeting Astromech. Fingers crossed for an Aces 2 pack!
Other 1/2 of X-Wing "fix" - Targeting Astromech
Here's my current prediction fwiw:
Targeting Astromech 1 point
After you execute a straight maneuver, you may acquire a free target lock.
I believe the TLT Y's benefit less from this since they would be more predictable and the opponent could more easily slip into the donut hole. I also suspect this is a soft push toward an ordnance buff for the T-65 by helping to set up the alpha strike on first approach while being less useful during a furball. And since its utility diminishes after the alpha because everyone is busy banking and hard turning, it facilitates the use of the astro to absorb a hit or crit. Finally, I think it favors the rookie T-65 because the named T-65 pilots and the T-70 up-front higher cost makes the 2+ point Astros more justifiable and lessens the attraction of hit absorption buff vs. offensive buffs, maneuver buffs, and shield regen buffs.
And thus, this is the other half of the "fix", specifically targeted at the Rookie and Red Squad T-65 X-Wing and trying to nudge us toward using the torpedo slot.
Here's to hoping FFG can maintain their product release schedule, because I do love the idea of a viable X-Wing swarm...
Edit: Changed "reveal" to "execute". Makes more sense to allow low PS pilots a chance to get within R3 before attempting the TL.
Edited by J1mBobI am decently optimistic for targeting astro regardless of Integrated Astro
if that thing frees the X-wing's or T-70's ept slot from Predator, we're going to have a ball with all the cool new potential epts (especially the one-shots)
So like this?

I think it will be 2 points so you can't take 4 T-70's with it.
Yes, like K4, except I would suggest a straight trigger is more limiting than a green trigger. So I'm still holding out hope that it's a 1-point upgrade. Also, the cheapest T-70 is 24 points. So the advantage of switching to the T-65 is having leftover points for ordnance. And why wouldn't FFG want us to be able to field four T-70's with Targeting Astro? Aside from cynical motivations, is that really overpowered?

Well I would rather take 4 T-70's than 4 t-65's with torps.
Becasue Torps are ****.
Odds are good it's straight, simply because they don't duplicate abilities, and K7 already as the 'greens'.
I'm actually pre-emptively a little disappointed - I'd have been pefectly happy with a free target lock, even if it had an in-arc restriction. That would have limited its Y-wing utility while letting E-wings and X-wings pour on the hurt, regardless of the trigger condition.
Oh, that would've made it cheaper, too. Win-win, eh?
If it's straight then i'm okay with that, after all the K-Turn counts as a straight eh?
That would also fit the "jousting machine" style they seem to want to fit the X-Wing into.

A 1-point for a red maneuver is the most interesting, since it works well with the X-wing's jousting focus.
A 0-point K-turn-only effect would be even more jousty, don't you think? Partnered with Cool Hand ... Call it the beta-strike. (A powerful joust ability one round of combat after the alpha-strike.) Add the integrated Astromech, also at 0 points, and you have an intriguing Red Squadron ...
Er, scratch that. No EPT on the generics. I thought I was onto something.
I wonder if this mech is the reason that we get another copy of advanced proton torpedos...
The "beta strike" of Advanced Torps fired with focus after a K-turn would be absolutely nuts! But the cheapest you could get would be Red Squad Vet or Porkins each at 34 points. Honestly, you can drop the torps and just use a four dice primary at range 1 with TL and focus that's still gonna hurt.
Just realized that Porkins is actually a pretty good spot for Cool Hand. K-turn, free focus from Cool Hand. Then Porkins away the stress and take TL with your action. Can still take whatever droid you want.

In that scenario, you might as well take adrenaline rush. Same points cost, and you don't have to try and Hold It.
Nope. On the other hand, there might be room for a (straight) and (k-turn) symbol on the card, but I wouldn't bet on it.If it's straight then i'm okay with that, after all the K-Turn counts as a straight eh?
Are you 100% sure that a K-Turn does not count as a straight maneuver? I admit i don't know but i thought it was technically a straight as you use the straight maneuver tools!

See page 6 of the new rulebook. K-Turn is listed as a separate bearing to straight.
s loops are not banks and T rolls are not hard turns. They are separate. K-turns as well. At least as far as the rules go for now, hey count as separate bearings. Otherwise I guess Navegator could potentially select those weird maneuvers that also reposition, and we just can't have that.

Except that Adrenaline Rush doesn't give you a free action.
Cool Hand for Porkins is basically a one-shot PTL after a red maneuver.

2 Points more for regular PTL is looming over it though. I can't see ever being so stretched for points that I'd need to downgrade. Honestly Cool hand'd be better on anyone without Porkins' ability, or maybe a Y-wing (grr), as they have more options to trigger it.
PTL doesn't help you on a K-turn. Not too many options to finish a K-turn with both a focus and target lock. Not sure how much its worth but just an interesting case.

We're specifically talking about Porkins here, who would be able to use PTL after a K-turn. He'd just need to eat the stress from the initial K-turn in order to ensure he can take an action.
Cool Hand does have the additional benefit of being usable when you're blocked.
