Your purchase plans for wave 8 now that we know more?

I made this image to make head and tails of the TIE/fo distribution into the core and expansion pack. 2 images are garbled because we don't have them spoiled yet

I get one of everything, and usually a second. If it's a swarmer, I'll get more.

As I seem to be unconsciously becoming a scum player I will definitely purchase at least 1 mist hunter and 1 jump master. I'm also a fan not rebels so will probably get the Ghost too.

But it's the mist hunter that has me most interested this wave. I can see myself buying 4 if their dial's not too shocking. 23 points for a ps3 bwing that can take an evade? Add FCS and multiply by 4!

Ghost/Phantom:

(...) This has "way too powerful" written all over it because matching the source material thematically would make it too strong and I'm sure even if Fantasy Flight didn't bias it towards "too strong" to appease the fans Disney would pressure them to anyway to support the Rebels brand. This situation has "extremely high risk of broken disaster" written all over it.(...)

You might have a quite valid point here given that a certain other very iconic ship was really prominent in the meta for a long time.

So the hypothesis here is that Disney pressured FFG to make the Falcon overpowered, and will do the same for the Ghost?

Which is hilarious, because at the moment, there is nothing overpowered about it. We are talking about a 60+pt ship, with barely any upgrades on it. And so far, it is somewhat stronger than a Firespray.

agreed

if anything, it seems to be the absolute worst of the lot because the docking gimmick is some garbage

I need to pay twenty points for some sh*tty not-x-wing just so I can use my aux arc and a SWT? And I have to pay for the SWT!?

ah well, too little info one way or another. As a positive, though, it's not a PWT.

as is, though, my Ghost's getting a TLT and some fun gimmicks (esp int agent shenanigans) and the docking bits are going to be left to gather dust

No, I think the Flacon was un-intentionally made a tad too strong, without any pressure applied. I mean it was the Falcon with Han Solo, so it had to have some punch.

But it was the first PWT, with a 3 dice attack, and most other turrets were weak in comparison. It was not for nothing people complained about Fat Han. Nowadays, ,ot of expansions and cards later, there are enough counters.

There might be a risk that the Ghost might go an overpowered route, esp as it is famous among boys/teens. A bit like the Ogres in GW Fantasy, which also a bit aimed at the younger crowd.

We'll really see when the other content in this pack is revealed.

As for the thread, most curious I am about the tractor beam. But not watching Rebels, I have no instant desire to buy any of the ships. And the Q-tip, I dislike the look and rationale of that ship.

Lets not forget. Large ship base. Boost. Turret capabilities. (I think Ghost can add a turret upgrade right?).

Huge amount of points, MOV.

This format is just garbage. ><

when the wave first comes out set a jumpmaster and 2 most hunters. Will ️️probobly pick up the ghost at some point as well for fun.

I love that they added the T-70 and TIE/fo to Wave VIII, it kills the ambiguity I was worried about as far as their release dates.

Anyway, one Ghost, one Punishing One, two Mist Hunters, two V1s, two T-70s, two TIE/fo. Can't see a need to run multiples of the VCX or Jumpmaster as yet! They seem as though they'll be quite solid list anchors, although two Jumpmaster sans titre might scratch that Scum itch I've been having (two Mando Mercs aren't quite two Bounty Hunters, and I'm a fan of two Fringer YT-2400s for casual chaos)

For me (primarily a Rebels and Empire player), I rank them in tiers:

Tier 1: Must haves

1x Ghost w/ Phantom - only one that I will get for sure

Tier 2: Probably will gets - I will probably get these, but I do have a reservation about each of them.

1x TIE Inquisitor - concern is that it is too similar to other TIEs, such as TIE Fighter, New TIE Fighter, and TIE Advanced

1x Core Set - I don't play competitively, so I will get this provided that the ships inside have been proven to be good for casual play. I also want to see how Episode 7 is received before buying. If Episode 7 is a total dud, I probably won't get this.

1x New X-Wing - see Core Set, I also need to be convinced that this is not too duplicative of existing ships

1x New TIE Fighter - see New X-Wing

Tier 3: Probably won't get, unless there's a sale and I somehow grow interested in it

1x Gozanti - I have a Rebel Transport right now that sees 0 play. Not interested in getting another ship that sees 0 play.

1x Jumpmaster - not a fan of Scum

1x Mist Hunter - ditto

This is funny to look at, what, six months after they have been released.

No one expected the jumpmaster to be (pretty much) the most popular ship.

Holy Necropost Batman!

Well, I imagine many of the folks that invested in 3 of those aren't overly happy anymore.

My regular opponent got the 3 almost as soon as 'that' list was suggested...we played once, and he was so disgusted with how it Slooped around/between asteroids & cluster mines & decimated my Dash/K-Wing that he vowed never to play it again, so I've only ever seen 2 at most since...

...he sold 2 of his 3 for a good price about a fortnight before the FAQ, so he's actually not that upset ! :) ;)

I don't think they are too upset, two stayed a strong list, and the rise of popularity of manaroo aces makes sure that the resale value is still high. I still find the deadeye errata silly, but maybe that is just me, the imperial and scum ace player who never had felt any big impact of torpedo alpha strike on his list building.

What I really entertains me a lot or the now rising quad-bomber lists and firespray / party bus alpha strike lists which do might have even more disgusting alpha strikes than the scouts ever had. Homing missile spam is a lot worse for ace players like myself and zuckuss and 4-lom did not fit on jumpmaster torpedo boats, but certainly does fit on two-ship lists. Hilarious to see rebels leaving their biggs at home and die to horrible alpha strikes yet again.

Inquisitor has also been very popular!
