Interesting read. I imagine we'll see the other bounty hunter ships eventually. The StarViper and Kihraxz might never be saved, though. The StarViper was invented for the specific purpose of giving the Shadows of the Empire villain a cool new ship, and I have a feeling that the new story group won't retread old stories like SotE. Meanwhile, the Kihraxz might have a little better shot at revival if there's a specific need for it in a game (which is why the Decimator was used in SW Commander, probably) but there are other, more pronounceable small pirate ships they could draw on instead.

Oh, the YT-1300 is in The Force Awakens, too, BTW.

TIE Phantoms appears in Rebel Assault. Also the YT-2400 appears in Shadows of the Empire.

Those are Legends, i.e. non-canon, sources.

So too the K-Wing and TIE Punisher for instance.

I'm pretty sure what Cesamasec is saying is that the concept, design and release of Raider-class Corvette all occurred (in partnership with Disney) following the "everything is canon" date - and even so, it's canon status is still completely up in the air.

The K-Wing and Punisher were both designed and appeared prior to that date, in non-canon sources. Same goes for the SotE ships, Galaxies ships etc.

YT-2400 is in Star Wars commander too.. it's the first troop transport for the Rebels..

I don't think that was Thrawn - especially given a conversation earlier in the book between Sloane and another Imperial. My interpretation was that the person they were talking about in that conversation is the same person she was speaking with at the end.

The Tie Phantom also appears in the just release Imperial Handbook, Along with a few other fighters I can't think of off hand. So that would indicate that the Phantom is cannon. I will look again when I get home, only had a chance to look at it briefly after I got it.

For as much as I love STAR WARS... I have to agree. all of these comics and novels are not so hot. Sure there are a few goodies but most of it is a BS $$$ Grabbers thing.

They were playing hard and fast with the name game on the "fleet admiral". If it was a new character, why not just introduce him? If it was a Force Awakens character, why not name drop to start building recognition? After my friend finished the book I asked him what he thought of the end and his first reaction was "feels a whole lot like Thrawn" too. It's probably not but wow, feels pretty darn near close to a new introduction for him.

Dengar was in The Empire Strikes Back... can't be more canon than that. His ship wasn't in the movie, but so what... there is no doubt he had a ship of his own.

Really, Lucas said in an Interview, SotE is his favourite story in the novels. And if it had been around before he started to write RotJ he would have made a SotE Movie.

It was considered- at the time- to be as canon as any of the movies. Even more canon than the Expanded Universe books.

Raider is mentioned in "Lost stars" book. so its canon. Its only one line but its in there... book was pretty lame though. Felt I was reading a Romance novel but with out the "Good parts" lol Gozanti is also in same book..

As far as I'm concerned the Radio Dramas are just as canon as the movies. Same sound effects, Brian Daly dialogue, tons on backstory and actual scenes of Alderaan!

Pretty sure B-wings were already canon. But that will place them much earlier in the timeline than before.

No.For instance, XWTMG and SWTOR are not considered canon.

XWTMG and SWTOR had started a good while before the canon announcement and because of this they were left in their previous state as non-canon. While they have elements that are canon, they do not submit new ideas to the canon. This makes some sense. You allow a strong license to continue without muddling the work you're trying to do to straighten the canon up.

Star Wars Commander, Star Wars Uprising, new comic books, new novels are considered canon. They were released after the cutoff and were given the kind of oversight needed to make them canon. Because they were released after the cutoff and were specifically developed to fit into the new canon.

If XWTMG had been released this year instead of so many years back, it might have been considered part of the canon but also might not have been allowed to use certain non-canon concepts, depending on the desires of Disney/LFL. The FFG RPG books are also not canon, IIRC. Same concept.
