Integrated Astro - X-wing Renaissance

Discard your astromech to stop one critical hit. No thanks. I'd prefer to keep my astro for the duration of the game.

You can't keep it if you're dead.

That wasn't a death threat just so we're clear.

Kinda depends on the critical hit and the astro. If you've taken a Direct Hit (and dont have R2D2) you dont have much of a game left unless you throw the astro overboard.

So one X-wing bandaid per pack? Greeeaaaatttt.

I don't think it is the full fix, we only got two Tie Mk. II engines with the punisher and still people are calling for a fix.

Hows that for jousting? With R5, it's basically all shields until a crit will kill you or you take a nasty Pilot crit that a generic would care about. it's more reistant to Accuacy Correcters than Bwings are, but more vulnerable to TLTs

It's the Mod + the astro.

The Mod alone is really good! It does exactly the thing that x-wings needed to have done.

This is the only real concern that we ought to have here. It seems to be a great upgrade--it makes every droid into an at will Shield Upgrade. Would you spend 4 points to negate any damage of your choice? Then why not discard a one cost astromech? Ignoring a crit is often more powerful than the droid's base ability anyway.

It's a $15 small-ship expansion with four pilots, so it gets five upgrade cards per pack. One mod, one astromech, one EPT, one Tech, and one torpedo.

The only ships that come with multiple copies of upgrades are the new medium-class ships (StarViper, Punisher, K-Wing, Mist Hunter) or Large ships.

I'm not concerned, i can make a killing selling those babies on e-bay!

I wouldnt hate

Garven Dreis + R2-D6 + Veteran Instincts + Integrated Astromech

IA gives back some of your lost Astromech utility and VI is both cheap and lets you hand that focus off to another attacker.

I love how thematic losing the astro is! It's like when Luke lost R2 at Yavin but that extra hull point allowed him to get the final shot.

This

It can't be the fix it's a bandaid at best.

There are no free astromechs and the penalty for that crit protection is high.

If you have r2-d2 on Luke are you going to ditch him to avoid a crit when keeping him could keep you alive longer?

I don't hate it I just hope ffg don't think it's mission complete for the x-wing.

No but R2D2 Luke doesn't need help, the generics do and this does that. Rookie + Integrated R5 seems great.

Nice!

or for 2 points take R2-D6 and Determination

This

agreed - give the guy a Like for that Talonebane

It's not really a fix for generics. At 22 points (cheapest astro) they still can't compete with bsps

It's a quality of life improvement for anyone with:

R4-d6

R7

Bb-8

All I can think of off the top of my head (why would you use r2 astro on either x?)

You don't run this on high-PS X-Wing pilots. Those guys were fine. Give Luke a shot with R2D2 and Lone Wolf sometime.

Again: this is a 1-pont shield upgrade. A Red Squadron pilot could rock this and R2-D6, gaining an EPT. A Rookie can carry this with an R2 Astromech for 22 points, putting it close to the B-Wing in overall durability while gaining a completely different ability set (so many greens!).

Folks, has been said around here for years that a free hull upgrade would bring the Xwing just about up to par. This becomes a one point shield upgrade. Sounds pretty good to me.

Actually slightly better as you can wait until the final hull or cancel a crit and you get the benefit of your astro in the meantime. Yes sir, I like it.

No, I think a T-70 with autothrusters and R2-D2 is still better than a T-65 with integrated atstromech and R2-D2.

Might be better but it's 5 points more, so is it unbalanced better?

For the price of a T70, I could have a T65 with Integrated Astromech, R2 Astromech and Flechette Torpedo. For the price of a T70 with Autorthrusters, I can bump up to a Red Squadron Pilot. You can get your free evade result at range 3, but I have initiative, can tag you with a stress at range 2-3, roughly equal durability, and all of my speed 1-2 maneuvers are green.

Heck, even R2D6 can come into play with this card. Use it to give one of your Red Squadron Pilots a one-shot EPT like Crack Shot, then burn him to prevent a damage whenever you need it. Or Lightning Reflexes, for your own crazy turnaround maneuver.

Okay but I guess the assumption is that If R2-D6 is discarded using integrated astromech than the EPT goes with it.

So a bit more use of R2-D6 assuming you go with the patter discard EPT then discard R2-D6. But what if you are forced into discarding R2-D6 before the EPT? I think the consensus is that the EPT is discarded as well.

Yep. So then your droid+EPT becomes a 2-point Shield Upgrade instead of a 1-point Shield Upgrade. But it was an upgrade with the threat of Crack Shot.

Luke and wedge Arnt fine they lack the ability to reposition their contemporaries poses, their abilities are still solid but the ships failing them.

B-wings still edge out the x-wing generics because the extra green dice makes so little difference your better off with the extra shielding.

Just like mk.ii helped the named defenders it just made over costed generics more expensive.

Can't be the FIX for the T-65 with an image of a T-70 on it. I guess is only part of it.

If you are really worried about positioning take EU instead of the new astro mech mod. If you don't need EU then take a free shield upgrade that you can always save until the last hit or on a direct hit. It's a boost for any t-65 that's not reliant on EU.
