T-70, TIE/FO expansion packs announced

By Danthrax, in X-Wing

oh look, more unique Aces and Leaders <_<

We couldn't come up with better names? Come on every single pod racer in the phantom menace had a name and place of origin. Please tell me that The Force Awakens can at least do better than The Phantom Menace!

Remember FFG was doing this stuff a year ago. They were barely done filming when they made these names.

Or one could just run one of the astromechs already in existence. I mean; basically this upgrade provides a second effect to the astromech which kind of means that you can afford to get away with them, content that in some point in the game that guys gonna take a Critical Hit in addition to the effect you have going all the way up to the point of discard.

I like Comms Relay as you can always enter battle with an Evade already. Makes the action a lot better. On paper putting it on Omega Ace with PTL sounds pretty solid. Evade first turn, then TL + Focus when you are attacking. On turns where you don't have a target in sight, TL + Evade. Rinse Repeat.

Integrated Astromech is okay. I don't think it will cause you to see a bunch of Rookies flock to the table, but it does help a couple named pilots.

Tarn + R7

Biggs + R4-D6 (he's now even more annoying)

Wedge + PTL + R2

Really like it on Wedge. Could possible keep him alive 1 more round. Which means the potential for something of your opponents to die.

Um....so the TIE/FO really only comes with TWO upgrade cards??

Just like the original TIE Fighter expansion pack ... it only comes with one copy each of Determination and Swarm Tactics.

I am pleased

That's all that the original TIE expansion came with.

I have to ask now, if you discard the EPT astromech, do you lose the EPT? Because if not, that's great.

"Whisper" and "Echo" are names that originate with FFG, right? 'cuz there weren't any real characters on any of the Rebel Assault Phantoms.

Why the heck couldn't they just come up with some cool callsigns? Seems pretty likely the Disney LFL didn't bother to assign any names to the generic troopers/TIE Pilots/what have you but didn't extend even the same creative freedom that was allowed for the Raider...

What gives?

Based on Epic, you would.

No, you wouldn't. There are a limited number of precedents, but a ship's price and loadout don't change as the result of play.

FFG is really being stingy with the tech upgrade cards. First, only 1 copy of Weapons Guidance in the starter when all 3 ships can use it, and only 1 copy in the T-70 pack. The Tie/FO doesn't even come with a copy. They could have added a copy to the Tie/FO pack.

FFG has a long, long established pattern with the upgrade cards. If a $15 ship has four pilots, it comes with five upgrade cards. If they have six pilots (as is the case with TIEs), then its only two upgrade cards.

Integrated Astromechs really feels like a T-65 fix more than something to help the T-70. The T-70 will probably get more mileage out of Autothrusters than being able to eject their astromech to save a hull point.

Uh-oh. You're right about Epic. Hmm.

So... Biggs with R4-D6 and Integrated Astromech?

Because LFL is being much stricter with the stuff that is tied into their new movies.

Yup. Everybody's favorite punching bag just got a little tougher.

The difference with other ships are they arn't in the new films. They are already EU and therefore LFL/Disney don't care as much. So FFG has more leeway (I'd think anyway)

Whereas these things are part of the big TFA/new star wars push so I think in terms of names, LFL/Disney have more of a hand in it.

I'm a noob, but what are everyone's thoughts on 4x Red Squadron w/ Integrated R7s? Tanky enough?

Obviously, but it doesn't make a lot of sense. Surely they (or FFG) could throw out some cool callsigns and it'd be on the Story Group's creative team to give them a backstory at some point, if they wanted to.

If that were completely true, we wouldn't need Extra Munitions.

Also every discard to use card ever.

According to the rules, when you discard a card attached to a ship you flip it over and leave it near that card, so that point values can be determined at the end of the game if that ship gets destroyed.

I don't think there is a rule for what happens when upgrade bars lose an Icon.

So Luke can Juke, but he can't Sloop? That's poop.

A-Wings with Juke? Yes please. :)

Shoop Da Whoop!

Quick question on Omega Leader: What does locked mean exactly? Target locked? Sounds kinda silly just take focus.

A-Wings with Juke? Yes please. :)

I'm also thinking A-Wings with Cool Hand. Give em' PTL and Cool Hand, boom, you have three actions that turn. Tycho boost into R1, PTLs to TL, Cool Hand's to get a Focus, then drops the Prockets with the double modifier.
