T-70, TIE/FO expansion packs announced

By Danthrax, in X-Wing

I've stopped getting S&V myself, and the only large S&V ship I have is the Firespray, mostly because I already owned one.

Am I missing it or have FFG not mentioned the new damage deck yet?

Right now the rules only say that if you have the new damage deck you should use it, so you don't need it.

That may change but I have yet to see an official word on that.

Am I missing it or have FFG not mentioned the new damage deck yet? I only ask as in Oct I have a torny I would like to go to and I'm not sure I'll have the money for a new core set and the torny if they say the old one is out :/

Probably going to go over it today.

I agree with others that all these uniques with generic sounding names are making things really hard to follow unless I've got pics of their cards pulled up in another window.

Lucky for us, we are, if nothing else, unified as a community in coming up with appropriate shorthand naming conventions for everything and its dog.

I propose we name all these new generics after 70's TV show characters, because reasons.

So, like, let the Omegas be Laverne and Shirley, and the Zetas be Lenny and Squiggy. Lots of potential in the list names "Old Milwaukee" or "Shotz Beer".

Call our Reds and Blues names like Fonzi and Potsie, Joanie and Chachi. Stick 'em all in a list called "Al's Diner."

Who's gonna be Mork and Mindy?

In the UK we're trying not to mention the 70s at the min. Can we try 80s instead?

Omega Leader, Ace, Pilot - Edmund, Percy, Baldrick

Epsilon Leader, Ace, Pilot - Del Boy, Rodney, Grandpa

Zeta Leader, Ace, Pilot - Vyvyan, Rick, Neil

I see a strong tendency from FFG to bring evade actions back into play

Also great: Comm Relay: So first round actions getting important know ;) Ships with Comm Relay (and evade action) are going to joust with an evade token

If this is a UK thing, I'd be all for some Monty Python stylings...

Monty Python can never be wrong

OL - king of the Britons (and yes you are being repressed)

OA - black knight "tis but a scratch!"

ZL - unknown

ZA - RUN AWAY!!!

EL - patsy or any coconut squire

EA - unknown

Fixed that for you.

So with all of these new TIE/FO pilots coming out with barely distinguishable names and some confusion over which ones come in which packs, here are all of them written up in one place:

"Epsilon Squadron Pilot," PS1 in TFA Core Set and TIE/FO expansion. No pilot ability or EPT. Costs 15 points.

"Zeta Squadron Pilot," PS3 in TFA Core Set and TIE/FO expansion. No pilot ability or EPT. Costs 16 points.

"Omega Squadron Pilot," PS4 in TFA Core Set and TIE/FO expansion. No pilot ability or EPT. Costs 17 points.

"Epsilon [Ace?]," PS4 in TIE/FO expansion. Unknown pilot ability. Unknown if it has an EPT or what its point cost is.

"Zeta Ace," PS5 in TFA Core Set. "When performing a barrel roll, you may use the straight 2 template (instead of the straight 1 template)." Has an EPT, costs 18 points.

"Epsilon Leader," PS6 in TFA Core Set. "At the start of the Combat phase, remove 1 stress token from each friendly ship at Range 1." Doesn't have an EPT, costs 19 points.

"Zeta [Leader?]," PS7 in TIE/FO expansion. Unknown pilot ability. Unknown if it has an EPT or what its point cost is.

"Omega Ace," PS7 in TFA Core Set. "When attacking, you may spend a focus token and a target lock you have on the defender to change all of your results to critical hit results." Has an EPT, costs 20 points.

"Omega Leader," PS8 in TIE/FO expansion. "Enemy ships that you have locked cannot modify any dice when attacking you or defending against your attacks." Has an EPT, costs 21 points.

Of course, all TIE/FO Fighters have 2 attack, 3 agility, 3 hull, 1 shield, a Tech slot, and an action bar with Focus, Target Lock, Barrel Roll and Evade.

I just hope this doesn't come out till next year honestly for a few different reasons
1) It's going to be a really expensive wave.
First wave to have more than 4 ships.
The ghost alone will likely be the most expensive big ship due to coming with the extra ship.
2) I actually feel too much too soon.
The Raider right before wave 7 seems like a lot.
A lot of ships and not enough time to get to use them all

3) I hope the Gozanti is not released close to wave 8

The Ghost will cost $50.

Gotta love how they changed up the way they show the card fan ... now the elite pilot's name is totally covered. Dem Episode 7 spoilers.

It looks like it starts with a period.

How do you know it's a female pilot?

...

I'll show myself out.

I will call it right now: Epsilon Ace and Zeta leader will not have EPTs. I base this on two things.

1) They seem to be following a general convention with the ships. The Blue Squadron ships of the T70 X-Wing don't have EPTs, but the Red Squadrons do. The Omega squadron seems to be the elite TIEs, so it's logical that they have the EPTs while the others don't.

2) Only two of the original class of elite TIE pilots came with EPTs. Mauler (the ace of the Core set) and Howlrunner (the ace of the expansion). They corresponded with the Black Squadron, which was the analog to the Omega squadron here.

Looks like a decent first post for a new thread. Maybe you could make the jump into MJ's sticky.

I might request you format each entry in bullet point or table style. For instance:

PS7 "Omega Ace" (20)

Source: TFA Core Set.

Ability:

"When attacking, you may spend a

focus token and a target lock you

have on the defender to change all

of your results to [critical hit] results."

Elite upgrade: YES

Howlrunner is the leader of Obsidian Squadron and both Back Stabber and Dark Curse are in Black squadron I believe.

Zeta should have an ept (PS 7)

Only reason omega leader is similar to howlie is PS 8 (which should have been nine going by the growth of ace to leader--eos 4 to 6 and zetas 5 to 7 but the empire has enough PS 9 ties)

Also, zeta ace (nightbeast's analog in the core) has an ept so no reason for zeta leader to be denied one

EPs leader doesn't have an ept and neither will eps ace (same PS as omega squadron, needs to not have ept or else will be strictly better)

Omega Leader is, at least, only 1 point more than ace for not being PS 9

Eps leader is 19, EPs ace will be 17 (same as omega squadron), and Eps squdaron is 15

Zeta leader will be 20, Zeta Ace is 18, Zeta Squadron is 16

another way to look at it: take the tie/ln PS equivalent and add 3 points

Academy --> Eps (+3 points)

Obsidian --> Zeta (+3 points)

Black --> Omega squadron and Eps ace (+3 points)

Night beast --> Zeta Ace (+3 points)

Dark Curse/Stabber --> Eps Leader (+3 points)

Mauler --> Omega Ace and Zeta Leader (+3 points)

Howlie --> Omega leader (+3 points)

I'll work on it. Work is slow today, haha

(and uh..."Moralo Eval", but heck Zuckuss, Bossk...) are never really called by name in the films

Moralo Eval was in the Clone Wars show, and named a lot. Same with Latts Razzi.

.
50 bucks US likely, which will be close to 70 Canadian

Most likely $59.99+HST CDN based on current price differences. Course our dollar takes a few more hits that could get worse.

So to get the fix for my two T-65´s, I have to buy two T-70´s.

But then..., if I want to get an integrated astromech on my two T-70´s I need to buy two more.

Definitely something I've thought about! One way to look at it: realistically, in a 100 point game, you can't run more than 4 X-Wings in a match.
