To Kill the SSD thread, a Death Star thread.

By carlos.morel88, in Star Wars: Armada

So, lets see how much we can stretch the idea of a Death Star station in the game. Immobile, can be put anywhere on the Map during set-up, with some sort of weakness to bomber type fighters.

Discuss.

Why is it immobile?...also i dont want to buy it just for the upgrade cards;)..

I'd price it at 19 points. I mean, it's powerful, but Luke Skywalker was able to take one out pretty easily, so it's going to have to be cheaper than he is.

(How many posts before someone actually takes me seriously :P)

truth, one must fight fire with fire :P

"Fight Fire with Fire? Fight EVERYTHING with Fire!!!"

Well, it cost 19 points with a special 120 points upgrade called "reinforced exhaust vent", text: X-wing squadron can no longer one shot the death start by rolling a crit.

Let's not forget the rule for the main weapon. It has to charge up for 6 turns, and can fire on the 7th ;)

No, it just means that Lando and Wedge need to blow it up then a la the Death Star II.

It has to have a boatload of shields, but only one hull. It would be very flavorful with Luke's ability.

This. Is. Perfect. :D

No. Just... No. Please stop the madness.

Build it and they will buy it.

Finally, an idea that has more merit than the SSD.

Put a poster of the Death star II on the wall and, once a turn, light up a rebel with a laser pointer. If there are any rebels left at the end of turn 6, and they have some bombers in the Imperial deployment zone, BOOM!

Less silly than trying to squeeze in Vaders ride.

Why do you guys think a playmat is the same as a ship you can move with the rest of the fleet?

So, if the calculations for the SSD would require a 2.5 meters long model, a scale version of the Death Star would put the model at 2.105 kilometers long.

Puts things in perspective :P

I'll play against anyone with my armada scale death star.

I'll spray-paint my gym ball grey, and bounce it against their face until they ragequit.

:D

He didn't take it out /that/ easily - he had to use the Force, and most of his mates died.

yes but give it the ability "immobile" which reads this:this shipbdoes not take ram damage and if you are overlapped immediately destroy the ship that overlaps

And it should have two hull, so only Luke can 1 shot it and it can't take face up damage cards.

Not having a Death Star would be a missed opportunity. Realistically, we don't need a mini for this. Just have FFG come up with rules on the Death Star to go with their playmat and use a dial or dice to represent its hull.

I also imagine having a playmat to represent a portion of the Death Star with matching turret minis and hangars. That would make for great scenario-based games.

Let us not forget that the ehxuast port was reinforced with something (this is my theory that i've never told anyone so take note of this when it is retconned into existence by a EU book) because Red Leader made his attack run, destroying the cover/vent/grate that was protecting the port. He thought it impacted on the surface but at least one of his torpedos made the opening for luke.

Need proof?

Only one impact crater, shots fired in tandem, one of them at least went down the vent. Luke didn't need to turn off his targeting computer they could bullseye that 2 meter target.

I don't quite follow.
