A New Take on Shuttle Squint Squint

By Shirako, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hothie's post about using Yorr as a support ship inspired me to look into a list using the shuttle as well. I present to you the following.

100/100

Soontir Fel: PTL, SD, AT, RGT

Carnor Jax: VI, HU, AT, RGT

Captain Kagi: RC, FO

VI pushes Jax to skill 10 so he is moving after the likes of Vader and Soontir, this means he can use his one action to reposition and dodge as normal instead of needing 2 since typically he has to anticipate where the higher PS dodgers will be and react accordingly. Fleet Officer hands Soontir yet another focus so he could potentially have 2 for defense and 1 for offense, bringing his damage output up considerably. Rebel Captive is there 1. as an annoyance for someone trying to take out Kagi 2. because sensor jammer is 4 points and I only had 3 left

I think Kagi brings more to this build then Yorr would. I disagree with Hothie's choice of Yorr because if he is soaking stress then he cannot use Fleet Officer efficiently or at all. Kagi's ability is also useful in the TLT and ATC meta we are entering because it shuts down Aggromechs and ATCs from targeting my aces as efficiently.

So, thoughts?

This is the most compelling thought to me. Jax always feels so much more exposed to me, because we all know how hard Soontir is to hit when he's turtled-up. This is an elegant solution, albeit one I'm not sure I'm good enough to pull off. Could you speak to your choice of Hull Upgrade over Stealth Device?

Very sound reasoning - definitely see some Aggromechs in my meta.

My concern is that it can sometimes be hard to get good value out of Fleet Officer without advanced sensors.

On the other hand, the synergy of Jax + Kagi w/ Sensor Jammer is also really sweet. Its possible to get SJ in this list by changing SD on Fel into TC, but then FO is still begging for AS...

As far as actual thoughts on the build, I think I prefer a cheap shuttle to Kagi most of the time.

I also agree that RO loves Advanced Sensors, but I think I might like it for different reasons than most...

To that end, Crew Slot no. 2? Intelligence Agent is lovely.

Simply put even at PS 10 and a free focus Carnor is not as survivable because he can't stack tokens like Soontir. Inevitably green dice fail him (sooner rather than later) so the choice of hull upgrade affords him a little more guaranteed survivability as opposed to relying on the greens

I had not considered using Intel Agent instead of the Rebel Captive, but I'm not sure what 2 extra points would do for me...I don't want to drop Soontir to a TC instead of stealth to get the shuttle the Adv Sens...Maybe drop the RC entirely to afford advanced sensors...

This build will require play testing for sure, and initial number-crunching still points to the fact that interceptors can go down like wet tissue paper to mass TLT fire, which is in fact a reality. I look forward to getting my shuttle back on the table in a capacity other than the now extinct double tactician.
