No I'm not complaining about the upcoming Strongholds of Resistance. Which I've just read about and realize I'll be buying more RPG books than I wanted to. In fact, that and Desperate Allies will be on my list to buy. But I'm getting ahead of myself.....
I've not yet bought Age of Rebellion, but it is going to be my next hobby purchase. As a Knight-Level Hutt, I wanted to get Force and Destiny and Lords of Nal Hutta first.
But my Hutt wants to join the Rebellion.....or will it be the Resistance?
I've mentioned in an X-Wing topic that, while I don't try to mix games, I do combine them into a single narrative. In fact, I'm not getting EotE despite having bought the YT-1300 and YT-2400 as my first X-Wing miniatures. With the New Order and Resistance on the horizon, I've been thinking about gaming in post-Endor times.
Already, the New Order has my attention for X-Wing. Having seen a better image of the New Order Star Destroyer, I'm tempted to wait for Armada Force Awakens releases. No such worries with Rebellion by the way.
While awaiting the New Order in the other two games, I've no such hesitation with Age of Resistance.
Be warned I have been reading about Aftermath and some of the hints within. So beyond this might be spoilers and I really don't want to upset anyone. I've not read it myself, I'm just going to get Shattered Empire in November, so nothing was ruined for me.
You've been warned!
So, for anyone who remains:
The term "galaxy wide cold war" was one interpretation of what was read. The New Republic and Empire had a big scrap over Jakku and then both consolidated. Treaty was signed, with the Empire/New Order controlling their systems and the New Republic controlling theirs.
This, for me, has me imaging all sorts of espionage, diplomacy, sabotage, assassinations and similar tactics as one side seeks to gain worlds while undermining the other government. As a fan of Jack Ryan and James Bond, this sort of environment appeals even more than Rebelling against the all powerful Empire.
My head is filled with many ideas.
I'll still be starting out as Rebellion, since my Hutt character joins the Rebellion to escape the Empire Inquisition. It is suggested that the New Order doesn't bother with Sith or Inquisition, but an Inquisitor Nemesis is central to my character's story.
But the more I'm learning about what happens after Endor, and the New Order, the more I want to roleplay in this time in Star Wars history.
How about you?
Are you planning an Age of Resistance campaign?
Whether a few people seeking to escape the New Order to join the New Republic, or New Republic diplomats/spies/saboteurs seeking to turn a world from the New Order, I see lots of potential here.
