Navigate Command Dial & Token & Max Ship Speeds

By Hulksmash, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

So I'm curious and it's probably in something and I just missed it but what is the actual maximum speed a ship can go.

For instance an Assault frigate can have a max starting speed of 3 if you set it at the beginning of the game that high. Can you increase the speed to 4 with a dial or token? So it'd all be in one movement and not 3 + 1 like with the engine techs?

Essentially can you take a ship past it's maxed speed noted on it's card?

Just curious.

No.

Max printed is max.

As he mentioned the card shows the max speed

Cr90 4

Vsd 2 and everything else 3

You mean 2 right?

No. He means 3 - for Neb, AF, Glad

The only way to increase your speed beyond the max printed on the card is with Engine Techs card, and only some ships can equip it anyway. On a Maneuver Command Dial you spend, you can also do an extra 1speed movement your ship allows (be it 1yaw or 2 depending on that ship).

Usually that card isnt that amazing, but ive had a bunch of situations where i really wish i had that card lol.

However you can use the command dial + token to double drop/increase your speed. Ive been using that to great effect on my Corvettes lately, blaze past ships at speed 4 one turn then next turn drop to speed 2 with a **** near U-turn with the yaw bonus.
