What to pair with Maarek and Deathrain

Now I'm having fun trying out the new toys from Wave 7 and the Raider and two ships I'm most enjoying flying is Marek and Deathrain. I have their builds pretty solid but have a tournament coming up on Sat and need help filling the gap.

Current ships are:-

Maarek Stele (27) w/ Title, VI or Crackshot (1), Adv Targeting comp (1), Adv Homing Missiles (3) = 32pts

Deathrain (26), with EM (2), Enhanced Scopes (1), Cluster Mines (4), Siesmic Charges (2) = 35pts

Which leaves 33pts to fill without an initiative bid.

Now, I'd love to pair another bomber/s with them but I can't fit two in and leaves me with a three ship list and leads to over investment in upgrades, either on a single bomber or on the two existing pilots (hull upgrades etc)

Any thoughts?

Perhaps Colzet to pair with Maarek for Crit-flipping fun? Alternatively, a Delta Squadron pilot with Ion Cannon might be good to help get the Advanced Homing Missiles off a bit easier.

You could run a pretty loaded cutlass if you have the model, or a TIE Defender. Carnor Jax is one of my personal favorites, and he fits in perfectly with PtL, autothrusters, and the mk2 engine.

If you don't want a 3 ship build you could take two of either Dark Curse, Backstabber, or Night Beast with TIE mk2.

Add in two TIE/fo Epsilon Pilots - that way you can have all the Empire's new toys on the board at once. (Admittedly not the most competitive choice, but fun)

Firespray's a workhorse, even with no upgrades and PS 3.

Thanks guys, all solid suggestions.

I've been playing a Deci-Krassis list for a year now so while I love a firespray I'm looking for a change.

I tried a three ship variant of this list a few times and it just doesn't have the staying power (my green dice are even more fickle than Fickle's)

I did think of the Dark Curse and Backstabber, Haven't flown TIE lns for a while and DC's resilience in the end game is great (if my dice don't dessert me)

I didn't think of running naked scimitars, which suits my style as I always pick hull over agility (the reason I use a firespray as a heavy laser cannon carrier rather than a defender)

Will sleep on it but I think I'm leaning to the two TIE aces and throwing caution to the wind on my green dice for once. They have a higher damage output than the scimitars and with everyone focusing on Deathrain they may last long enough to do some damage.

Not hoping for a top placing for tokens but as long as I finish in the top 16 for the Alt Recon Specialist I'll be happy

I've had success with the following list with Maarek.

Vader + Squad Leader + TIE/x1 + EU + ATC

Maarek + Calculation + TIE/x1 + ATC

Soontir + PtL + RGT + Autothrusters + Stealth

Both Vader and Soontir will fire before Maarek stripping shields. I move and "focus" with Maarek. Then once Vader moves I have him get a TL on a ship, and use SL as his second action to let Maarek take a TL on the same ship. Now Maarek attacks last at a decent PS 7 with a good chance 1 or 2 crits will get through...which is NASTY. This does make Maarek a target quick, but with Vader kitted out this way he can become a nice arc dodger like Soontir if need be.
