Think about it. We already know wave 8 and the gozanti are up next. There's not reason to believe that FFG has another secret release up its sleeve. It could be well into 2nd quarter of 2016 before we see fleshed out episode 7 stuff.

That's not really an issue, I don't play at local stores or in tournaments...I only do casual games back at the house. And usually my friends would use my ships...so I usually make the calls on whats going to be happening. But really it would have been bad planning to release this starter without the two ships in it having expansions within the next couple months...and then when the movie releases follow up with a larger wave.
Have you considered the fact there's only about a 30 year gap, and even today we have things like the A-10 Warthog that was commissioned in the late 70s and is still active to this day, even as we field the F-22 Raptor and other newer, much more high tech craft? Think about how long most of our naval vessels have been in service, getting refitted and retrofitted. It's hardly unprecedented or canon-breaking to have ships a few decades apart in service together.

Well thats true, there isn't any reason at the moment to believe we will see old types of the tie fighter or x wings/y wings in TFA. The FO looks to be a totally different beast than the empire, everything is different, the icon, guns, outfits, star destroyers...the only thing i've seen from the OT that remains is the Falcon.

Since its an expansion they could have just made up a name or two if disney would give them approval. It looks like there might be one named x wing pilot, as the name on one card can't be seen. I get the FO thing, even if it's less fun and flavorful. All of the cool names of the existing Imperial pilots (and MOST of the Rebels, to be fair) spawned from the now-defunct expanded universe and/or the old ccg. It makes sense that they didn't front load them with the kinds of personalities that developed over many years the way the OT ones did.
I'm optimistic about expansions moving forward - a ton will be determined by what we SEE in this first movie, but I'd be shocked if, somewhere either side of the movie's release we didn't see some more named pilots, maybe even ships of which we're currently unaware. It's unlikely that the Falcon, T-70 and TIE/fo are the only ships that we'll see in the film - hell, unless the TIE/fo expansion has a Tech upgrade with turret access or something I'd be shocked if a Special Forces version wasn't considered for X-wing.

SO the real question is, how long do I have to wait for wave 8 to take all my money?
OKAY... so I was off be a few days!
Well to add this Episode VII stuff to the upcoming wave instead of waiting for a whole new wave does make some sense. So now for the entire wave each faction will have 2 ships (or the rebels will have 3 if you count the shuttle as a separate ship).
Now we are just waiting for the promised article about how new core set affects organized play. Maybe tomorrow.

Although I would totally expect her to be a Millennium Falcon pilot. (Which would be terrifying... a Jedi fat turret?) I think it'll just be a side character like Wedge.

It's hardly a spoiler considering it's only speculation. They haven't confirmed those character's last names as far as I know.

I was once told to tone down on spoilers when I wrote a paragraph on the grave robber concept when people still thought that was super-canon.
