Wanted to watch the E7 trailers again. Thought it would give me pleasant dreams.
Then I started reading the comments on YouTube.
Oops.
It's so disappointing to see under every video, there's prequels slander and fights about the OT being superior. I'm especially disappointed that Disney took part in driving a wedge between the star wars fanbase. Why are people that all claim to love the series, driving a wedge between each other?
My reply.
Disney didn't drive a wedge in. Disney yanked that damned thing free. Do you realize how long Star Wars nerds have been fighting about Yuzhan Vong or Admiral Thrawn? It's finally over! From now on, nothing can be considered cannon that doesn't have the logo, and the logo means it is cannon! There is no more question about the validity of one piece of Star Wars lore. Thank the Triple-Sphere Overlord for delivering us from our time of madness! HAIL DISNEY!
I've been seeing a lot of hate over the last awhile about Disney's hack-and-slash shortly after acquiring the franchise. The fight about 'best movies' will go on forever. We're nerds. What the hell else are we going to do with our days?
But we don't have to fight to validate the EU against Cannon anymore.
Sure, we can include it in our tables, but we get to approach all Star Wars discussions with a clear understanding of what is cannon, and what is not.
Disney has set the foundation for unifying us, rather than putting us into camps (or leaving us in them).
Don't like the Yuuzhan Vong stories? Cool. They aren't cannon (at least not yet) anyways. And if you do, they are a part of a completely different discussion now. No more trying to validate it; all you have to do is find others that accept them as a possibility and you're good to go.
But we all have the same understanding of what makes up the skeleton.
I, for one, welcome our mouse-eared overlords.
