Visual References for All Expansion Tiles

By Sebastian Bludd, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

My friend who hosts our game nights recently picked up Descent 2nd Edition and he liked it so much that he got a few expansions for it. Sorting and finding map tiles can be a pain so after seeing the chart in this post:

https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/109673-what-map-tiles-come-in-the-base-set/?p=1137458 , I decided to make similar guides for all the expansions.

They're all at BGG under the Files section for each expansion. The only ones missing are Shadow of Nerekhall and Manor of Ravens but I submitted them today and they should be up by tomorrow. I figured a few of you might be interested in these so I just thought I'd share.

Thanks for sharing. It will be usefull for making 'home made' quests :)

I would be interested in looking at this, as I was the one that created the original. Never bothered to update it for all of the expansions.

Unfortunately, when I go to BGG, I find no entries within the Files section for this. Perhaps you can include a direct link here to make it easier to find. Thanks.

Thank you for the link.

For some reason, when I went to BGG and looked through D2e, and searched through the Files section, none of these came up.

Since I don't have the time, please feel free to redo the core set in any fashion you desire (even leveraging mine), so that they can all be stored in the same place !

There are 2 "inside-outside" transition tiles in the core set. I have 6, and I cannot for the life of me determine where they came from. I don't see the additionals in the link.

What is the specific size of the tiles (1x2, 2x2, etc.) that you are looking at? If I know that, I should be able to help with where they came from ...

They're 2x2. In the link in the first post of this topic (your visual reference) it's the piece in the bottom right.

Aren't they in LoR or something?

2 in LoR
2 n LotW

and indeed they are missing from the images! :-)

From another thread I found this :

Descent Base Game - The Shadow Rune: 1-30

Lair of the Wyrm: 31-35, S1A

Labyrinth of Ruin: 36-43

The Trollfens: 43-49, S2A

Shadow of Nerekhall: 50-69

Manor of Ravens: 70-77

Being a new owner of Descent 2 and all of the box expansions I decided to make a list of what tiles were in each box. In addition to the number sequence listed above each box has the following:

Base game - 2 entrance/exit tiles, two 2x2 connectors, 6 1x2 connectors, and 8 1x2 ends

Lair of the Wyrm - two 2x2 connectors, 3 1x2 connectors, and 2 1x2 ends

Labyrinth of Ruin - 4 copies of tile 43, two 2x2 connectors, 3 1x2 connectors, 2 1x2 ends

Trollfens - 3 copies of tile 43, no connectors or ends

Shadow of Nerekhall - two copies of tiles 61, 64, & 68, 1 entrance/exit, 4 2x2 connectors, 11 1x2 connectors, and 7 1x2 ends

Manor of Ravens - 2 copies of tile 76, 3 copies of tile 77, 2 1x2 connectors, and 3 1x2 ends

Other than the tiles in Shadow of Nerekhall all of the other connectors and ends have the same artwork and are interchangeable with the other sets.

Hope this helps..

Hope this helps..

Thanks for the catch. I relied solely on the Quest Builder software to make these files but those 2x2 connectors only show up under "Outdoor Tiles" for the Labyrinth of Ruin expansion; they don't show up at all in either tile set for Lair of the Wyrm. Both files have had 2 each of the 2x2 connectors appended to them and the Dropbox files have been updated.

Edit: It looks like Quest Builder also lists too many of the 1x2 connectors and 1x2 ends. Not that big of a deal since they're just connectors and ends but I would like my files to be definitive. I don't have time to finish editing them now but I'll get them revised soon.

Thanks! The endcaps/spacers don't really bother me because there are not usually many in the map. However, it would be good if building a custom map with indoor/outdoor transistions how many you can have based on expansion. Thanks again!

As we are speaking of missings (don't hit... I'm ill ... all must be square !! ;-P )...

LotW : is missing connectors 1x2 x3

is missing ends 1x2 x2

LoR : tiles 43 are x7 instead of x4

connectors 1x2 are x11 instead of x3

ends 1x2 are x13 instead of x2

SoN : tiles 61, 64 should be x2

outdoor-Indor connector 2x2 are x4 instead of x3

ends 1x2 are x7 instead of x6

it's all ! ;-)

Thanks for the info, Felin. I've updated the files for LoR, LotW, and SoN in the Dropbox folder and they're all marked v2. I double-checked Trollfens and MoR and they're OK, so let me know if you see any more errors in the updated files.

I put all of the files, including the base game reference made by any2cards, in the following Dropbox folder:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tyrr4g6abj1vboi/AAAUV5c_OazWmCnO98a2ub2Ka?dl=0

That way they're all in the same place and they can be downloaded without having to register on BGG.

This DropBox link no longer works. Have you moved these files to someplace else?

I started to sort my tiles on a plastic folder, as someone (Zaltyre?) pointed at some topic.

I own the core and all the expansions 'til now. My tiles end on 98, is that correct?

If someone could update with the last two expansion I'd be grateful. :)

This works great for tile management. Vaultz box with these folders. There is room for a plano box full of components behind the folders, or room for another three expansions worth of tiles instead still left, plus that folder and pockets built into the lid. This plus an ArmyTransport bag full of foam trays and another small plano box holds the complete game and makes setup and cleanup very fast.

thx a lot

If you don't have your tiles sorted by numbers this speeds up the RtL setup significantly.

Mists of Bilehall and then Chains that Rust are the last two in tile order. And yes, Chains that Rust last tile number is 98.

Thanks my friend.
