"Cancel all dice results"

By slimeball, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Certain weapons say something along the lines of "if the attack hits, do X then cancel ALL dice results" does that mean cancelling evade dice too? So if i roll hit-blank-blank and they roll evade-evade-evade do you then do X then cancel all dice.

My assumption is that it doesnt count as 'hitting' until after you have beaten the evade roll but wanted to double check.

Your assumption is correct. An attack is concidered to have "hit" if there are any uncaceled hit or crit results after you compare results.

You have to roll at least 1 uncancelled crit/hit to "hit". So what the card is saying is if you roll 3 hits vs no evades you still only do X damage, because your uncancelled hit/crit rolls get cancelled.

Thought as much, thanks

I cannot wait until the Rules Reference is ubiquitous. Once everyone has a copy, it will actually be easier to look these up than to ask on the forums.

Nothing will actually change, but we'll _feel_ better.

There's no excuse for people not having a copy:

FFG needs to get a FAQ that is compatible with the new rules posted.

I'm not aware of any rulings in the existing FAQ that are incompatible. What do you have in mind here?

The only excuse for not having the rule book is that this subforum is a little bit easier to find on the website.

You still need to ask yourself how long the currently printed rulebook will remain accurate.
