How would you like to see damage decks as a strategy choice

By Bloodstripe Baron, in X-Wing

I think it would be interesting. With the different card backs you don't have to worry about mixing.

Running lots of secondary weapons? Take the new deck

Running generics? Keep the old deck

It would add more strategy and not be too hard to regulate. Also it wouldn't force anyone to have to buy a new core set to compete.

Pilots shouldn't be able to choose how being shot effects them.

Don't like it at all.

If anything, it might have been cool if the ships you ran changed your damage deck but not as an optional thing. More like, "If you're running at least 1 YT-2400, there must be these cards in your deck."

But I actually thinking that would end up pretty terrible.

So just use the new one if you have it.

The new rule book states you have to take the new deck if you have it. There should be no options.

No thanks

One deck tournament legal is enough.

Adds complexity that isn't necessary or fun. The new damage deck is quite a bit more (new)user-friendly and less dicey.

Buildable decks. Must have seven direct hits and 33 cards total, with no more than two of the same crit.

At the start of the match, exchange decks with your opponent.

Essentially, you'd be setting the critical damage targeting priorities of your ships. If you allow players to just decide what deck they'll be using, they'll just choose the one that has the least crits that will affect them. That's actually happening for me now. I'm doing a tourney where we're not required to use the new decks. The new decks are much more painful for my build than the old deck, and i probably wouldn't have elected for my current squad with the new one. Therefore, I'm sticking with the old deck.

More likable, more reasonable, still more complicated.

Oh, it'd absolutely be more complicated and impractical to regulate. But with a crew of honest players, it could also be fun.

I think everyone should switch over to the new damage decks as soon as possible and throw away their old ones. It shouldn't be a choice.
