What to put with two Gray Squadrons with TLT?

By BCooper85, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Following the thread I started on the main page and deciding that I want to use 2 Gray Squadron Y's with TLT I now have the conundrum of working out what I should use the remaining 48 points for(46 if I put an R2 astromech on each of them). I'm using 2 as firstly I only have 2 Y's and secondly I don't it to be purely a TLT list which will get dicked against brobots or anything else that seems to be a hard counter.

From the one game I've used TLT's I've already seen how consistent they are so I want something with a bit more punch. However, I don't think I have enough points left for a Han or Super Dash.

Thoughts would be very welcome, I end up going round and round trying to think about this stuff!

I played against a list with two Ys as you describe, plus 2 dagger squadron B wings. I thought it was a really solid list.

All PS4 so trumps almost all other Bwing based lists and should perform well against low PS swarms.

against brobots and big ships Corran might be the most efficient partner.

48 points with the extra shield

Corran Horn

R2-D2

Shield Upgrade

Very different suggestions so far, good stuff!

I don't have a lot of experience with A's and their 2 red concerns me so I think they're out.

The B's seem a good fit for the Y's as they are just as tanky but are they missing out by not being able to have any upgrades?

Corran intrigues, I love him as pilot and I love the ship but I do have trouble flying him sometimes and I get caught trying to get back into the fight for 2 or 3 rounds. Why Shield instead of Engine?

If you go to the Scum side and take Hired Guns with Unhinged Astromechs you can fit in Kath with VI/K4/Engine Upgrade.

I'll echo the Corran Horn option. But for the sake of diversity I recommend one of the Poe Dameron builds that have been floating around the forums recently.

That leaves you with around 10pts for extras for Ordnance/Modifications or boosting the Grays to Dutch or Horton.

With EU I tend to get fancy and turn around asteroids (those 3 turns you mention). With that extra hit point I can stay in the battle a bit longer after a double tap, bumping and losing actions is a viable option if It means staying at R1 (where Corran shines) for my next attack.

If you wanted pure damage, you could run 3 bandit squad pilots with concussion missiles (48) They can also cover the R1 hole of the TLTs after firing their missiles.

I like the 2 Dagger option a lot too, and I think they will be fine without upgrades.

To be original though, I'll suggest Eaden Vrill!

Eaden: HLC, Rec Spec, Anti Pursuit Lasers (44) Don't take the title, as Vrill can make a 4 dice attack against a stressed ship in Range 1 (read: interceptors and a wings that used PtL to get into range 1)

With Eaden you can switch to a Tactician as well, and then have 3 points left (5 if you drop APL) to upgrade to Dutch or Horton.
