So the title says it all. My biggest question is with the new core set will come new starfighters. But does the new core set mean that the old core set won't be reprinted any more? Or even worse all the old models and expansions for X-wing?
Does the new core set mean that the old one won't be reprinted?
No.
Anyone purchased the newly reprinted original core set that is listed as "in stores now"? Does it have the new damage deck and/or new rule books?
Yes, the old game is dead only.the new episodes ships are relevant, those old crappy films are soon to be flreplacer by new cool ones too.
I think the original set would still have to printed as there are a lot of unique cards in there. I could see it being updated with the new damage deck and such though.
I'll say it again for the umpteenth time. It JUST got reprinted. It has unique upgrades. FFG reprints expansions. Thus, the first core set is and will continue to be reprinted.
The bigger question for me is whether the reprinted original Core will come with the updated rules, template icons and damage decks.
If the old deck is being phased out, it makes no sense to reprint the older versions of those things.
I spoke to the developers directly at the NOVA Open Q&A and asked this very same question. Direct answer, "Yes, the old core set will still be produced. How else will people get Luke Skywalker or Mauler?"

Did they indicate whether they'd be updating the rules documentation contained within?
I'd bet that the original core reprint is coming with the new damage deck inside.
Is it just me, or did this new core set bring out all the people who scream about the sky falling?

I'd expect that too. Except, since they (FFG) knew the new set was coming, should have let existing stock of the old set with the soon to be outdated components run low, so that we would have noticed a shortage of starter sets for the months prior to the release of the new set.

Yes
Will this thread set a record for one-word answers?
These are the new fix ordnance threads.
Maybe.
Personally I hope the old core stays exactly the same, damage deck and all. Then it's kinda like having a classic edition and modern one that has full backwards compatibility.
Except that if you're trying to phase out the old decks, keeping them freshly printed is less ideal. Same with outdated rules.
I get that they don't change the 'content' of older expansions (Though in the case of the TIE Advanced, this is downright cruel; want your ship to be worthwhile? Better buy that $150 expansion over there too!) but you'd have hoped they'd at least keep the rules tidy. Like, you know, the Cloak errata for Phantoms, much?
Ah, well.
Threads like this make me want to get an industrial strength nail, weld it to a metal workbench, get the angle just right, and jam my forehead straight down onto it.
The old one is still being printed and shipped. The real question is, should you buy it?
As for now I would say if you are starting the game you should go with the Episode 7 core set first. Now if you don't want to have anything to do with the new movies and just want a small X-wing game to play at your house then get whatever you want.
If you have a classic core set don't buy a second one. However if you already got the Episode 7 core set and are thinking about getting the classic core set too its your choice and it would not be that bad of a choice for now. You do get 3 playable ships and pilots like Luke and Biggs, although the damage deck will be phasing out, the range ruler maneuver templates and dice will still be usable and will work well with your X-wing collection and episode 7 core set.
Now should you get two episode 7 core sets? Well that depends if you want two players using your collection at your home, but since it is your home then it wouldn't matter if it were 2 classic core sets or 2 episode 7 core sets.
